Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Ranchi is an autonomous institution of higher education and was Established in 1955 by the Government of Bihar in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. BIT Ranchi is approved by the AICTE as well as accredited by the UGC. The NAAC accredited the institute in the year of 2016 and assigned a Grade of ‘A’. According to the NIRF Ranking-2023 announced recently, BIT Ranchi stands 65th among engineering institutes in the country.
The institute also has undergraduate programs across the engineering discipline in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical Engineering. It also provides some post graduate courses such as MBA and MCA. For instance, the admission procedure for the batch of 2024 is normally carried out in January every year. It has the facility of direct admission to some classes and students have to write National level entrance examinations like JEE Mains and then undergo counselling process for getting admissions. The institute also holds its own entrance test BITMAT in the month of May/June for B.Tech admissions.
BIT Ranchi is particularly famous for having a good placement record and attractive internship options. The companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T, Cognizant, Accenture and many more are hiring its students from BIT Ranchi on the completion of their course. The highest salary package was offered for Rs. 32 LPA and the average salary package offered was Rs. 6.5 LPA in the placement session of 2023.

Birla Institute of Technology Ranchi is a technical and research institute that provides a number of courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in the discipline of engineering, technology, basic sciences, management, and pharmacy.
