CIBS Leh Admission 2024

The CIBS in Leh has several departments that offer different undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Buddhist philosophy, literature, culture, and history. These include the departments of Buddhist Studies, Comparative Religion and Culture, Tibetan Language, Historical Studies and so on. They differ depending on the departments and courses offered in the institutions. To join BA in Buddhist Studies one has to have at least 10+2 certificates in any stream for Acharya one has to have BA degree. For MPhil and PhD, a postgraduate degree is required as well as an entrance examination must be passed. CIBS admits students with qualifying exams such as Class 12th scores from a recognized board, graduation results, or postgraduate marks based on the course offered. Some of the courses offered at CIBS include Acharya in Buddhist Philosophy, Comparative Religion, Buddhist Culture, Tibetan Language & Literature, Buddhism & World Peace among others.  

The Central Institute of Buddhist Studies Lehhas announced the admission and entrance examination for the year 2024. Eligibility criteria for admission to the BA and Acharya programs include Class 12th percentage more than 50% in any stream from a recognized board. In order to pursue postgraduate courses such as MPhil and PhD the candidate has to take an entrance examination that evaluates their research abilities, knowledge of the subject and language skills. The registration process is from December 2023. The written tests shall be conducted in the month of May 2024 followed by interviews. The candidates selected for admission will have to accept the offer before the start of the session in August 2024. The Institute provides comfortable hostel accommodation for boys and girls who are living in other parts of Leh. CIBS Leh Application Process 2024

Ladakh, there is an educational institution called the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies (CIBS) that has a number of programs related to Buddhism, philosophy, culture, and languages. Students can even apply for admission at CIBS online through the website at cibs.leh.nic.in or get the application form and submit it in person at the campus. 

The application process is easy and can be completed online. Open the CIBS webpage and scroll down to Admissions. Choose the program of your choice, complete all the fields in the application form, and attach copies of necessary documents in electronic form. Pay the application fee through net banking, debit card or credit card only. For off line admission, get the application form from the institute counter on paying the prescribed fee. Complete the form, enclose photocopies of relevant documents, and drop it at the Administrative Office of CIBS by the deadline.

The documents required to apply for CIBS admission are mostly - 10th and 12th marksheets, school leaving certificate, graduation marksheet (for master’s programmes), Aadhaar card, and passport size photographs. With regard to diploma, bachelor’s and master’s programs, the institute has available fields of study as Buddhist studies, philosophy, Tibetan languages, etc. Depending on the results of the tests/interviews conducted by CIBS, the students are selected based on merit.

  • Fill up the application form completely & submit it.
  • Candidates will be allotted a user ID & password from the confirmation page.
  • The same User ID & Password will be sent to the candidate's registered Email ID for future reference.

- Recommendation letters – Wherever possible, professional recommendation letters from academic faculties that are acquainted with the applicant’s skills and potential are ideal. It is also possible for the amount of references needed to differ as well.

- Interviews - It may be necessary for the applicants to have a face-to-face interview where they can defend their plans and research ideas as well as determine compatibility or lack of it with the department of specialization and the advisor’s areas of interest. 

- Publications –Some programs, especially in competitive fields, may expect students to demonstrate their research abilities by having published papers.

- Statement of purpose – The applicant must provide an essay on career objectives, research pursuits, motives, and appropriateness for the program.
