The Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), formerly known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University is one of the state university situated in the Lucknow district of Uttar Pradesh. AKTU is approved by the UGC and is aided by the Government of India. It has an NAAC A++ acc credits from the NAAC. A recent NPRF Rankings released have ranked AKTU 25th among the universities in India.
AKTU has over 150 courses on the various disciplines such as engineering and technology, pharmacy, architecture and management among others. Some of the most popular options at the undergraduate level include B.Tech, B.Pharm, BCA, BBA, MCA and MBA. Admission Entrance Examinations for admission include UPSEE and JEE MAIN as well as national level exams. Mid of February mid-March is a time when the admissions begin for new academic session starting July-August. AKTU also conduct semesters exams in November- December and May-June. GATE/ CAT/ NEET are some of the other major exams under AKTU purview.

UPTU later renamed to AKTU is a state government university in Lucknow. It provides for graduate and postgraduate studies in different disciplines of engineering technology, management and pharmacy.
AKTU admits close to 40,000 students to study around 150 courses in 400 colleges. Among the most popular course at b groups are B. Tech, M. Tech, MCA, MBA, B. Pharm, M. Pharm. These programs are only open to students through the state and national level entrance exams.
