Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University is one of the renowned agri universities in Bihar which is situated at Pusa, Samastipur. It is an Institute of National Importance under the umbrella of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi which came into existence in the year 1971 with the motive to impart quality higher education in Agriculture and Allied Sciences. NAAC Grade A has been accredited to the university and under NIRF Ranking 2023 the university has ranked 75th among the agricultural universities.
The university provides undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral and dual degree in various faculties such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Fisheries Science, Home Science, Basic Sciences, Agricultural Economics and Extension Education. Some of the favourite programmes are Bsc Agriculture, Msc Agriculture, Btech Agricultural Engineering, Mtech Agricultural Engineering and Doctoral Degree Programmes in various specializations of Agriculture and allied sciences. The admission process begins in May of the year and take a period of seven calendar months. University conducted entrance examination is ICAR-AIEEA UG/PG and University entrance test and counseling. The university boasts of proper placement records, most of the top agriculture firms and agri-business giants come to the campus to pick students. Some prominent recruiters are ITC, Godrej Agrovet, Mahindra Agri Solutions, Escorts, Rallis India, UPL, Coromandel International, NACL Industries, PI Industries etc. The placement report for the current year shows that more than 80% of students got placed with leading organizations and the average starting salary that they receive ranges from Rs. 5 – 8 lakhs per annum. The maximum salary offered is rs. 150000 per annum. It also has a separate placement and training cell that aims to polish the students through various training and development programs to prepare them for placements.

1. For undergraduate programs, candidates must have cleared 10+2 in science stream with pass percentage in minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) from any recognized board.
2. For admitted to the master’s programs, the candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related disciplines with minimum 50% marks for open category/45% for SC/ST candidates from any recognized university.
3. The candidates applying for the Ph.D. programs should have passed the master’s degree in agriculture or relevant fields with minimum 55 % marks (50% for SC/ST) from any recognized university. They should also pass the entrance examination as part of the requirement.
4. For diploma programs the aspirant must have passed 10+2 in science stream from any recognized board. It became clear that some of the diplomas can have requirements for certain relevant work experience.
5. The minimum age limit expected of all students seeking admission into undergraduate programs of the University is seventeen (17) years but there is no upper age limit. For postgraduate and the doctorate programs, the minimum age requirement is 19 years.
6. Lakhs of marks in the qualifying exam relaxation will be given to the SC, ST, OBC, and other category students as per the government norms. This is mostly accompanied with extra weightage being placed on work experience or any other extra curricular that the candidate has excelled in.
