The Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry Solan conducts various under graduate and post graduate courses in horticulture, forestry, biotechnology and other sectors of basic science, humanities and commerce streams. The particular requirements in this regard also differ depending on the department and the program. For admission to BSc Horticulture, the candidate should have cleared 10+2 examination in science stream with minimum 50% marks. The admission requirement for enrolling for the BSc Forestry programme includes having sat for the 10+2 examination in sciences with at least 50% of the total percentage aggregate. Like other MSc programs, for the MSc Horticulture, MSc Forestry, MSc Plant Pathology courses students must have passed the graduation in relevant stream minimum 50% marks. Solan’s Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry has four constituent colleges, providing undergraduate programs – College of Agriculture, College of Forestry, College of Horticulture, and College of Home Science. The eligibility criterion does differ slightly from one department to the other but in general to get an admission into most of the Undergraduate programs one has to sit for class 12th in the relevant subjects with minimum aggregate percentage of fifty to sixty percent from any recognized board. The qualifying exams that are accepted include HP Board of School Education Dharamshala, CBSE and ICSE. Some of the highly preferred UG programmes are BSc (Hons) Agriculture, BSc (Hons) Horticulture, BSc Forestry, BVSc & AH, BFSc Fisheries, BSc Home Science and Technology BTech Food.
