G.D. Goenka University, also referred to as GDGU, is a private university located in the city of Gurgaon in the Haryana region of India. It was set up in the year 2013 and in the same year, it was acknowledged by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and acknowledged by NAAC under ‘A’ grade. This makes it an institution of quality since it has been ranked 101-150 in the NIRF 2023 University Rankings.
GDGU spans a large extent of course offerings in various disciplines one can enroll for. It has all courses of Under Graduate, Post Graduate and PhD in disciplines such as Engineering, Business, Hospitality, Law, Fashion, Media, Architecture and more. I would like to note that the admission process to the 2024 batch started in February, and the students can apply either through the online portal of GDGU or through any of the national level tests GAT/SAT. About a week ago GDGU put up the exam dates for its much advertised BCA, BBA, B.Des and MBA courses on its website.
On the issue of placement, GDGU has performed very well in ensuring its students get a place in their dream organizations. The table below displays the data of placement from the current batch for 2021-22, more than 90 % of the student got placed and reputed companies like Genpact, HDFC Life, Byju’s, Zomato, etc. visits the campus every year. The range of average annual salary of the undergraduate programmes offered is between Rs 4 – 6,00,000/- PA. Average salaries vary from Rs 4-5 LPA for MBA and Law courses while for other courses average salaries range Rs 8-12 LPA. G D Goenka University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For admittance in all the BTech programs, it is mandatory that the candidate should have passed 12th or equivalent examination in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate.
2. For BBA and BCom, the qualification needed is the 12th pass in any group with minimum 50% marks. There is no any entrance examination for admission in to the university.
3. For BA LLB and LLB, the applicants should be graduate in any stream in order to take admission in these courses. At least 50 percent of marks are mandatory in the qualifying examination.
4. For MTech programs, a candidate needs to have a BTech/BE degree in a relevant branch and must have scored at least 60% aggregate marks. GATE qualification preferred.
5. For MBA programme, minimum 50 percent in any graduation discipline is required. For admissions, any entrance exam such as CAT or MAT is a must.
6. Minimum requirements for eligibility in all the PG Diploma programs include a bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with a minimum 50% aggregate of marks. No entrance test.

There is strong infrastructure to support the students for the internships as well as final placements in G D Goenka University. The major industries that participate in the placement process of the institute are Amazon, Flipkart, Deloitte, KPMG, EY, Trident Group, and Genpact, etc. The maximum offer made for the batch of 2021 was of Rs. 42 LPA while the median salary was Rs. 6.7 LPA. The industries that actively were involved in recruiting students in the year 2021 were information technology, banking and financial sectors, consulting, and analytics. Thus, the campus placements were a success where around 83% of the students were offered jobs through campus drives. The placement cell has training programs in aptitude tests and soft skills to equip students for this recruitment process. This is because the university offers a program that is aligned to the needs of the industry and this has seen its students secure placements in some of the biggest corporate brands.
