Gangadhar Meher University Sambalpur is one of the renowned universities in Odisha offering numerous undergraduate and postgraduate courses in different fields of study such as science, arts, commerce, law, education, journalism and mass communication. Some of the general courses offered include BSc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology, and other similar subjects and the admission is done based on the 10+2 Science with minimum 50% marks. One can pursue BA in History, Economics, English, Odia, etc. with the minimum qualification of 10+2 in any stream. UGC NET Commerce: BCom in Accounting, Management requires 10+2 with minimum 45% marks. For admission to LLB programme, candidates should possess a bachelor ‘s degree in any branch of knowledge with not less than 45% marks. BEd programme draws its students from the graduates of the BA, BSc programmes. Graduates with minimum 50% in their discipline can opt for MSc in subjects including Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics for graduates in these and other related disciplines. University considers transfers from other colleges or institutions provided they completed their qualifying exams from CHSE, CBSE, ICSE for undergraduate level.
Major streams include Science, Arts, Commerce, Law, Education, Bachelors in Journalism and Mass communication. The equivalent examinations for the UG programmes are the CHSE Science & Arts stream examinations which are conducted normally in March.
