Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics is an autonomous organization affiliated to the state of Maharashtra and situated in Pune. It was established in 1930 by the Servants of India Society and later got UGC and NAAC recognition where it was graded ‘A’. The NIRF ranking of Gokhale Institute for the year 2023 was 65 amongst the best social science institutes in the country.
The Institute has a broad range of programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level and it focuses mainly on the discipline of economics, politics, sociology, public administration, agriculture economics and business management. The bachelor programmes comprise of Economics, Politics, Sociology, Economics Science, Business Administration and Economics, while the integrated programmes are Masters in Economics and Masters in Agricultural Economics. It should be noted that for admission in the academic year 2024, the applications are likely to be accepted in March. It will have entrance tests in May-June and then counseling will be done. The new academic session shall commence in July.
The placements at Gokhale Institute are very good with reputed organizations like Deloitte, ICICI Bank, Infosys, TCS, SBI, etc coming for recruitment They campus placement drive done in 2022 where more than 80 companies selected students in multiple profiles. The highest salary package was of Rs 18 lakhs per annum and the average salary packet was Rs 6.5 lakhs per annum. A total of 1250 students appeared for placements and out of them 1125 got placed which indicates a success rate of 90%+. Major hiring profiles primarily include Management Trainee, Business Analyst, Corporate Finance, Equity Research, Marketing and Sales. As for the employment opportunities of its students, Gokhale Institute still remains a center of numerous and diverse job offers due to its tight connection with business sphere and focus on practical aspects of learning.

1. For admission to the MA in Economics, Politics, or Public Policy program, it is mandatory that the candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with an aggregate of at least 50% marks from a recognized university.
2. Minimum should have a Bachelors degree in Economics with at least 50% marks for admission to MSc in Economics programme. Mathematics at 12th standard is mandatory for every student.
3. The candidates should possess minimum 50% marks in any discipline at the Bachelor’s level for admission to the PG Diploma in Development Policy and Practice program offered by the university.
4. Candidates who have completed 10+2 in any stream with minimum 50% mark can apply for admission to the BSc in Economics program. Mathematics at 12th is preferred Mathematics 12 has the highest preference of 17.
5. Candidate should have completed 10+2 examination from any stream with least 50% marks in the aggregate level for admission to the three years BA courses in Economics, Politics, Sociology or Psychology.
6. Policy: Admission is done on merit as determined by entrance examination and interview conducted by the institute for all courses. According to the existing laws of the government, the reservation shall be implemented.

Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) has an excellent placement record of its students in different field/sector throughout India especially in Pune, Maharashtra. As many as over 80 reputed companies have turned up for campus placement at GIPE in the recently concluded 2021-22 placement season.
