IIT Bhilai is one among the new generation IITs in India which was set up by the Government of India in year 2016. The institute is an Institute of National Importance and is fully recognized as such under the Institutes of Technology Act 1961. To provide an insight into the quality standards maintained at IIT Bhilai, it achieved NAAC Grade A+ in 2022. IIT Bhilai is a relatively young institute, which is still not listed in the NIRF rankings, but the institute aims to become among 100 best engineering colleges in India till 2023.
Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Civil Engineering systems are taught at the IIT Bhilai under the BTech courses. It also offers postgraduate technology with Master of Technology and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in various fields. The programs offered at IIT Ropar are JEE Advanced for the BTech, GATE for the MTech and, and a research entrance test & interview for the PhD.

1. The candidate should have passed 10+2 examination securing 75% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Maths (65% for SC/ ST).
2. Successful candidates should be in the upper quartile in JEE Advanced test for the BTech programs.
3. The requirement for MTech candidate is having a Btech/BE and a valid GATE score which must be above a cut-off point.
4. For admission into PhD, the candidate must possess MTech/ME or an equivalent degree with not less than 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5.
5. Extra documentation such as publications, projects and the like may be required for PhD students.
6. All concessions and relaxations in cut-off mark as per GOI rules will be provided to students belonging to the reserved categories.
The final placement for the batch of 2024 has finished at IIT Bhilai and the institute has offered great opportunities to students. He revealed that over eighty firms conducted campus placements this year with firms like Microsoft, Google, Texas instruments, Qualcomm and some core engineering firms. The maximum placement made by a reputed international IT Company was for an annual package of INR 1.30 crores. The average salary is rather impressive and equals INR 24 lakhs per annum, therefore, the IIT Bhilai graduates face no issue with employment.
