Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology established in 2008 under the Central Education Institutions (CEI) Act by the Government of India. It is an Institute of National Importance declares under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961. IIT Hyderabad has been granted ‘A’ Grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council). IIT Hyderabad has been positioned at 8th place amongst Engineering Institutions in India.
The institute offers B.Tech. Degrees in various branches of institutions like Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and so on. It also offers M.Tech. and science and technology doctorate levels in different fields of science. Process of admission to the B.Tech. program occurs via the JEE Advanced exam and further counselling. The last date to apply for JEE Advanced 2024 is roughly around the third week of May 2024. The examination is planned to be held in June 2024.
IIT Hyderabad has been a premier institute in terms of placement for the graduating students with significant placement companies offering the best job profiles. At least 200 national and multi-national companies come for the placement drives every year in a campus. Some of the top recruiting companies included Microsoft, Amazon, Qualcomm, Samsung R&D, Bajaj Auto, Oracle, Texas Instruments, Goldman Sachs and American Express amongst others. - For BTech programs: Class 12th ended with grade 75% (grade 70% for SC/ST students) in Maths, Physics, Chemistry/Biology or Biotechnology as main subjects. Should have pin down their seat, and have desired marks as per JEE Advanced exam cutoffs.
- For MTech programs: Possess the bachelor’s degree in relevant field with minimum 60 percent marks (55 percent for SC/ST students) The student should have GATE valid score, exceeding the GATE cut off limit set by the department as well.
- For MS by Research and PhD programs: M.Sc. or MCA in relevant field with total marks not less than 60% (55% at least from SC/ST students). Having a grade above that of the department which might be GATE/CEED/NET or any equivalent exam.
- There may be additional factors depending on the program like the work experience etc. to mention interview performance.
- Additional five per cent of marks are subtracted from the minimum eligibility marks for the handicapped people.
- All kinds of programs will have candidates to be Indian only if not the reserved seats for foreign nationals.
1. IIT Hyderabad admissions are on the basis of the JEE Advanced, which is a yearly University-level test to be held by IITs. An occasion of the students clearing the JEE Mains and qualifying for JEE Advanced is necessary for them to be admitted.
