IIT Indore - Admission, Courses, Fees & Rankings 2024

IIT Indore is one of the eight new IITs set up by the Government of India under the Institutes of Technology Act (amendment) Established in 2008-09. IIT Indore is one of the young institutions situated in Madhya Pradesh which has started its functioning as a technical and research Institute. The Institutes of National Importance Act has declared IIT Indore to be an Institute of National Importance and the AICTE has accepted the Institute. It has been accredited with A+ grade by NAAC which emphasizes on its quality in the field of higher education. According to NIRF rankings 2023 which was declared recently IIT Indore is on number 37 considering all engineering Institutes of India.

IIT Indore provides B. Tech. and M. Tech. degree courses in Engineering and Sciences streams; MA and M. Sc. degree courses in Humanities and Social Sciences; and doctoral degree in all the disciplines. Some of the popular courses offered here are BTech, MTech, MS, PhD and so on in various disciplines like computer science, electrical, mechanical metallurgy, biosciences and so on. The admission to these programs is on the basis of All India Entrance Examinations such as JEE Advanced, GATE, CEED, NET, etc . The process is started in the month of February-March with examination in the months of May-July. It is announced in the month of June-August with the results. IIT Indore has well-placed students from the leading companies in the IT, Core Engineering Consulting and Finance sectors. Some of the major companies that are involved in campus placement include Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Texas Instruments, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, Wipro, among other than one hundred companies. In the maximum salary was Rs. 56.6 lakhs per annum and average salary was Rs. 16.45 lakhs per annum. 79 per cent of students are selected through campus interviews because of the quality education and training provided as per the needs of the industry. IIT Indore Eligibility Criteria 2024

- For BTech programs: Recorded scores of 75% (65% for SC/ST) in PCM in 12th standard or equivalent. Having a score suitable in JEE Advanced.

- For MTech programs: Bachelor's degree in the relevant field of studies with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) category students. Qualified in GATE exam.

- For MSc programs: At least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Minimally 55% or more (50% for SC/ST). The pre-test may be given to the candidates, if needed.

- For PhD programs: Masters degree in appropriately related field. Minimally, 60% marks (55% for SC/ST categories only). Passed GATE/CEED/NET or other national level exam which are equivalence to it. In line with the selection stage process, interviewing will also be involved. 

- Students with related work experience to the course may be given marks relaxation of up to 5% for sure. This varies across programs.

- In both programs, 28 years is set as age limit for the General category. Age relaxation applicable as per the criteria of Group I rules of GOI for the reserved category.

IIT Indore Courses Details 2024

The Indian Institute of Technologies Indore (IIT Indore) has undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD programs crosswise engineering and science departments. Founded in 2009, IIT Indore makes available to students the contemporary infrastructure and facilities in order to expose them to a world of quality technical education and cutting-edge research.

One can find BTech degrees in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Metallurgy, and Civil Engineering and other widely-known programs at IIT Indore. IIT Indore Admission Process 2024

- The selection criteria for MTech programmes is the basis on the GATE score of the candidates and also the interview round, for confirmation. However, as different departments may have slightly different selection characteristics, the criteria may also differ from section to section.

- Taking up PhD studies involves entering a GATE/NET programme you must take or a different equivalent exam. Interviews will be conducted and candidates who match the specifications of their departments will be selected to the next stage. The candidate also stresses the importance of the research proposal they are given.

- Instructions for MSc enrolment are conveyed through national-level exams i.e CSIR-UGC NET or the board of National Testing Agency. In addition, formulating of the interviewees is also a factor in the result.

- Besides Academic Tests, the factors which are admissible along with it include Credit from major academic performance, experience done pregraduation, research statement of purpose etc.  

- On iiti.ac.in website, the admission brochure, as well as a notification, are released before the admission process starts and this document contains course and department specific admission guidelines.

- On top of this, there are specified category quotas in accordance with federal guidelines of Indian government. Some places female candidates are allotted enough seats.

IIT Indore Scholarships 2024

One of the many benefits of the Indian Institute of Technology Indore (IIT Indore) is the scholarships and financial assistance they offer to students who show outstanding potential and are said to be socio-economically challenged. These scholarships seek to celebrate academic excellence, to spark research interests, and to make sure that the student has enough money for studies as he/she doesn’t have a financial constraint. 

There are scholarships from the Institute, which are awarded to the best students at the end of each BTech programme in the form of Institute Gold Medal. Research/Teaching Assistantships are a support package to MTech and PhD Scholars that consists of a monthly stipend granted to research scholars involved in research projects or teaching faculty. Further, endowments such as the Pratibha and Priyadarshini scholarships are setup to serve to the female students and low income group. As assistance programs – Directed Credit Line and Indian Council for Cultural Relations – are open to an foreign students so they can also avail them. On top of this, the Central and state governments similarly offer additional support to successful applicants, which includes programs like the Post Matric Scholarship and the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship.
