Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur), is one of the premier engineering and technology institutes of India, which is located at Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. In 1959 IIT Kanpur was conceived and developed into a world leading school for education and studies in science and technology after 65 years.

IIT Kanpur Eligibility Criteria 2024
1. For being eligible for MTech courses, you will have to take a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BTech or BE) or an equivalent degree with first class or 60% marks (55% for SC/ST). Programs also entail that GATE qualification is a requisite. Jobs could be factored in but it depends on the policy.
2. If you want to have the direct admission to the PhD programmes, you should be a holder of either the master's degree in engineering/technology or a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology with an outstanding academic record. In other departments we do interview/test.
3. For MSc programs, 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in the bachelor's in the corresponding specialization is required at a minimum. For example some departments conduct an interview in addition to the admission test.
4. For an MBBS degree, which is a JAM examination that gives admission based on BSc level performance and interview. Must at least get 60% in BSc is required.
IIT Kanpur Courses Details 2024
The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) is mandated to provide undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral education in engineering, science, design, and humanities streams. Founded in 1959, it is among India's prime institutes for techno-educational researched learning at higher technical education level.
IITK has B.Tech programs of four years in Aerospace Engineering, Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Eng, Computer Science and engineering, Electrical Eng, Materials Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Eng among others. It further includes dual degree programs integrated with a degree like MSc+PhD and direct PhD programs.
IIT Kanpur Admission Process 2024
1. IIT Kanpur provides students with 4-year BTech program, 2-year MTech program, 2-year MSC program, and different streams of engineering, science, and interdisciplinary phD programs.
2. BTech admissions, the students must clear the JEE Advance exam after the first gate of JEE Main exam. Cut off is fixed at JEE advanced rank still. Film loans may have additional obligations for certain limits.
3. MTech or MSc courses, the students must clear GATE test. Admissions are through GATE score in addition to test/interviewing skills conducted by IIT Kanpur.
4. The selection criteria for admissions to PhD programs typically entails passing GATE or NET exams. Besides it, the students have to apply for an interview for the sake of the admission to the doctoral programs that are available in the departments of different fields.
5. For women there is quota (20%) and others namely for economically weaker sections, persons with disabilities and so on there is also a quota for foreigners.
6. Departments - Mechanical engineering, Biotechnology and bioengineering, Chemical engineering, Electrical and electronics engineering, candidate may want to include at least one more BTech department.
