IIT Mandi is one of the Indian Institutes of Technology which are considered to be the best engineering and technological institutes of the country. IIT Mandi was established in 2009, and under the Government of India the institute has been accredited as Institute of Eminence. It has also been NAAC accredited ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. According to the NIRF Rankings 2023 that has been recently declared, IIT Mandi stands at 48 positions in the top engineering institutes of India.
IIT Mandi has a variety of programmes in undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels in the fields of Engineering , Basic Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. The most preferred B.Tech specialisations include computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering as well as civil engineering. It requires the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Advanced) for admission of the students. There is also a direct channel through which students can apply for admission through the university without going through the agents. IIT Mandi Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Having cleared the 10 + 2 examination with 75% or 7.5 CGPA in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Should get at least passing marks in each subject which should be least 60%.
2. Qualified JEE Advanced exam. Choice of program depends on ranking achieved in JEE Advanced. Higher rank gets priority.
3. For preparatory courses, student must have passed 10+2 in science stream with minimum 60% aggregate marks but no back log.
4. No age restriction. It is not restricted to Indian nationals only; even foreign nationals have the provision to apply.
5. For 10+2 qualification, the reserved category students have been allowed a leeway of 5% in minimum aggregate marks.
6. Other conditions may include being a holder of valid score in JEE Main for Indian applicants or SAT Subject Test for foreign applicants.
IIT Mandi Placements 2024
The latest graduating batch of the IIT Mandi, the batch of 2024, has clinched great placements this season with several premier recruiters coming to campus despite a souring economic climate. Some of the other points that can be noted are Microsoft having the highest salary package of 65 lakhs per annum and also being the largest recruiter. Some of the top organizations that have taken part in the campus placement drive at IIT Mandi are Uber, Qualcomm, Intel, American Express, Texas Instruments, JP Morgan, and so on. Once again the placement ratio was almost touching 85 percent with almost all of the nearly 400 students enrolled landing themselves lucrative jobs and internships. The median came closer to INR 20 lakhs per annum in terms of a salary package.
