IIIT Sonepat is an all-boys technical and research Institute situated at Sonepat, Haryana. It was formally launched in 2013 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It is quite evident that IIIT Sonepat is accredited by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to the University Grants Commission (UGC). It has been accredited grade ‘A’ by NAAC with the cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.23 on four point scale. As per the NIRF Rankings 2023 that has been declared, IIIT Sonepat secured 65th position among the engineering institutions of the country.
BTech programs are in Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. At the postgraduate level, it is equipped with M.Tech and PhD courses in different areas of Computer Science and Electronics. Intake to the various BTech programmes is through one of the most competitive entrance processes in the country via the JoSAA counselling, which is based, on JEE Main ranks.

1. For BTech, the candidates must be passed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, Maths having minimum 60% of marks. Passed JEE Main examination also required.
2. The candidate should have his / her MTech, BTech/BE degree in any relevant branch with minimum 60% aggregate marks. They also require a valid GATE score for admission.
3. PhD, a master degree in a relevant subject is needed. Minimum pass percentage of 60% at master’s level is required for such courses.
4. For BCA minimum 50% marks required including 12th pass with Mathematics as subject. There are no entrance tests supposed for the BCA program.
5. For MCA, the candidates need to have a minimum of a graduation degree with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline along with Mathematics in 10+2 level.
6. To be qualified for MBA, one must possess a bachelor’s degree in any field of specialization. They should have attained at least a total average of fifty percent marks. Other requirements include also an valid CAT/MAT score which is needed for getting admission.
The placement of BTech and MTech students in IIIT Sonepat is commendable in terms of numbers and companies offered. In the academic year 2024, students have shown a great level of performance where more than 90% of students have got placed in top organizations. The maximum salary offered was Rs 43, 33, 200 per annum from Direct while the average salary package offered was Rs 150000 per annum. Some of the last year’s leading recruiters are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, L&T Infotech, HCL Technologies, Deloitte, Accenture, and Tech Mahindra. About 25% of the placement are on offer from IT sector while the rest are from core engineering, analytics, consulting and finance industries.
