Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (IGDTUW) is all women university located in New Delhi set up by the Government of Delhi. The university provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a wide range of disciplines including engineering, technology, applied sciences and humanities. As for the eligibility criteria, it depends on the department or the program that has been chosen. For admission to BTech programs, the candidates must clear their Class 12th in science stream with at least 60% marks from any recognized board. The entrance examinations that are considered are JEE Main, UCEED, as well as the state level examinations. For MTech, candidates should have a BTech/BE degree in the relevant branch from a reputed university with not less than 50% marks. It is preferable for the candidate to have a GATE qualification. For BSc, it is mandatory to pass Class 12th in science with 55% at least. As for the type of examination, CUET and state and board examinations are recognised. For MA/MSc programs, one requires a relevant degree with at least an average of 50% from a recognized university. They can take CUET, Board examination and any other examination at national /state level.
Some of the faculties of the university include the faculty of engineering and technology that provides the BTech, MTech and BSc streams, the faculty of sciences and technology offering the MSc, the faculty of humanities and social sciences offering the BA, MA and PhD streams. For the year 2024, the crucial examination dates for the admissions shall be – JEE Main January 2024, JEE Main April 2024, GATE February 2024, UCEED January 2024, CUET April 2024, CUET May 2024. The online application forms for UG programs are also available from March 2024 on the concerned university portal. As for the PG programs, the application begins after the declaration of the results of the qualifying exams. Admission procedure includes – Applying through online form/kits, uploading documents, written/entrance examination, or merit list scrutiny, interview/meetings/counseling sessions and finality of admission after fee payment and verification of documents. Admission is based on the performance in the entrance test and or qualifying examination, merit list and the counseling process.
IGDTUW provides different B.Tech, M.Tech, BCA, MCA, BBA, MBA, B.Sc, M.Sc, M.Com, B.Com, M.Com, B.A, M.A, and other programmes in the field of engineering, technology, applied sciences, humanities etc. IGDTUW has online as well as the offline process of the admission of the students.
Using the internet to apply for the job is convenient, quick and easy. In order to access the admission portal, students have to go online to the official website of the Institute at www.igdtuw.ac.in where they will find an option labelled ‘Admissions’. They have to make a login, have to provide the details in the application form, have to scan and attach necessary documents and as well they have to pay the application fees through net banking/debit card/credit card.
Students who wish to apply offline for the admission can get the application form from the university campus on payment of the amount. After that, the duly filled application forms with photocopies of qualifying Examination mark sheets/ certificates/ ID proof / photographs etc., have to be deposited in the office of the Registrar by the last date. Application fees also can be paid in form of demand draft.
The policy on admissions is merit based which means that admission is granted based on performance in qualifying examinations. Two different cut-offs are declared for each program, depending on whether one is a general applicant or an SC/ST/OBC applicant. Web based applicants obtain user name and password to monitor admission status. Selection is communicated to the applicants through post/email for the applicants who applied online.
- The acronym of the university’s name is IGDTUW, which can be expanded as Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women. It is an all-girls university in Delhi which offers BTech courses.
- B.Tech Online Admission 2023-2024 IGDTUW has released the online admission registration for admission in this academic session. As for the last application date, the online application is expected to be available until June/July 2023.
- Selections will be done as per candidate’s rank in JEE Main or other applicable entrance test. Out of total number of the seats, 60% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Delhi region.
- Some of the BTech programs provided includes Computer engineering, electronics and communication engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical engineering among others.
- There are approximately 475 seats available for BTech program in all the institutions. Supplementary posts may be provided in other circumstances but within the allowable number of supernumerary seats.
- For the PWD category, 3% of the seats are categorized horizontally across the programs.
- The admission notice and procedure for IGDTUW for the academic year 2023-24 will be updated soon on the official website of the university which will give a clear idea of what fees are to be paid, what is the procedure of admission and how many seats are available.
- It is mainly through JEE Main examination but it is also planning to open a new campus at Jaipur. To be an VITEEE participant, candidates have to first write JEE Main and obtain a VITEEE qualifying score.
- The candidate has to fill separate application forms for admission to the BTech programs offered at IGDTUW depending on their JEE Main score and the rank obtained.
- The admission is purely on the basis of ranks secured in the JEE Main examination, and the offered rank is the Admission Rank (AR) which is the JEE Main rank. In the first round of counseling, the seat fillers are selected in preference of female candidates.
- If seats are left open after female counseling, the candidates from the male category are given admission according to their JEE Main rank.
- Besides the scores of JEE Main, there are other criteria which are supposed to have the eligibility criteria such as the qualifying examination scores, i.e. 12th boards. Candidates should have minimum percentage in their 12 boards with least aggregate percentage %.
- It is also important to note that reservation criteria provided by Delhi/Central Government are effective while preparing the merit lists. The criteria may also differ depending on the kind of quota in use.
1. You can find out when the application process begins for the desired academic year from the university’s official website or through the notices in the university newspaper. Mostly it convenes in March-April.
2. Make sure that you sign up on the university application portal when it is launched for the academic year. The user will be required to register his or her account by choosing a login ID and password.
3. Completing the form for IGDTUW BTech admission should be done in a proper, accurate manner. Include the following basic information such as user’s basic information, study details, communication information etc.
4. Uploading scanned copies of documents such as photograph, signature , class 10 and 12 marks sheets , caste certificate if any etc. in the manner prescribed.
5. Application fee to be paid online (it costs approximately Rs. 1200 for the general category). Remember to acquire a copy of payment receipt.
6. Complete the application form, attach the required documents and print out the completed application package for review. Check each of them for the correctness of all the information mentioned.
7. Fill the application form of IGDTUW BTech and send it before the last date. Do not forget to save the copy of the confirmation page.
8. To download the admit card visit the university website regularly and see if there is any written test and/or interview schedule. Although it is essential to appear for them as per schedule.
- They should be submitted around March /April for admissions in July of the same year. In general, the exact dates of these holidays differ each year but they are usually held during this time of the year.
- For admission, most of the time, candidates having a Master’s degree in any one of the engineering / technology disciplines with minimum of 55% marks for general category (50% for SC/ST) are admitted. The candidate must be in their last semester of the Master’s program to qualify.
- It is non-sectarian and non-partisan and students are admitted based on a test written at the national level and interview administered by the university.
- The various fields of study available for Ph.D. are all major engineering disciplines such as Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, etc.
- The approximate number of seats in total that are offered to students who want to pursue Ph.D. programs are around one hundred and the departments where the seats are available are numerous. There are reservation policies that work according to the policy of the government of India.
- Eligibility: A candidate must hold a Master’s degree in engineering/ technology or its equivalent from a recognized University with at least 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 on 10 point scale. In addition, candidates currently in the final year of their master’s degree programs may also apply.
- Entrance Test: A candidate must pass an entrance examination conducted by the university to stand a chance of getting an admission. Written test also forms part of the test and comprises questions touching on different aspects of engineering and research methods. Candidates that are on the shortlist must also sit for an interview.
- Written Exam: They include aptitude test for research, general aptitude test, and specific subject test in engineering/technology at the postgraduate level. Questions are of type where correct answer should be either objective or there are multiple choices.
- Interview: This also determines if the candidate is capable and has potential for research work in the future. The questions about past and present work experience, basic and advanced engineering courses taken, research potential, academic background, and areas of interest.
- Final Selection Criteria: According to the results obtained in the written test, interview, and educational and work experience, the final list of the candidates is compiled. They are allocated based on students’ performance, specialization preferences, open positions, and the ratio set for reservation.
1. The notification of the availability of the Ph.D. admission can be found either at the university website or at the advertisement. Its applications usually start in May/June every year.
2. Select a department for your Ph.D and scope of research/specialization that you are interested in . Check that there are good faculty members who are able to supervise the doctoral research in your area of specialization.
3. In this case, the application form and the eligibility criteria are usually provided as downloadable documents on the university’s website once the application period is open.
4. Mention the minimum qualifying percentage of marks of a Master’s Degree in the relevant field to meet the eligibility criteria. Also must have GATE/NET score if applicable.
5. It is advised to complete each section of the application form to the extent possible, and to enclose documents like certified copies of transcripts, experience certificates, research proposal etc.
6. If there is any application fee, ensure you pay it, and ensure you fill the application before the deadline either online application or by post as prescribed.
7. If selected in the shortlist, then you have to take written test and/or interview on the dates announced for the same. It is possible that the selection process will be multiple phased.
8. Students who have been selected will get the admission call from the respective departments. Admission is confirmed by the necessary documentation being provided within stipulated time.
