Karnatak University of Dharwad commonly referred to as KUD is a university located in Dharwad, Karnataka. It was founded in 1949 and thus is one of the oldest universities that is located in the state. KUD is accredited by University Grants Commission (UGC ) and is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities(AIU). It had received the accreditation of grade B by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in the year 2016. As per the NIRF ranking of 2023 for the Indian universities KUD was placed in the band of 101-150.
KUD has number of Undergraduate courses, Post graduate courses, diploma and Ph.D programmes in Arts, Commerce, Education, Science, Law & Engineering faculties. Among the common courses done are Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Master of Commerce (MCom), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Education (MEd),Bachelor of Laws (LLB),Master of Computer Applications (MCA),Master of Business Administration ( Like other universities the semester examinations are held in the months of October/November and April/May of the year. For the 2024 academic session, the admission process will be from May 2023.
KUD has an active placement cell with placement drives being conducted regularly throughout the year for the students to get placed in different companies and organisations. The companies that hire most of the students are Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, ICICI, HDFC, AXIS, State Bank of India and so on More than 500 students got placed in the placement drive of the year 2023 and the highest salary package offered is 8 LPA. The average salary offered is between 3-5 LPA in almost all the fields of IT, Banking, Financial and Analytics and Marketing.

Placement opportunities are being offered every year to the candidates by the recruiters at Karnatak University Dharwad. The placement details of the different companies for the eligible students for the 2022-23 placement season shows that more than 65% of the students got placed in the respective companies. The maximum salary given was 18 LPA offered by the software company Mindtree as the highest recruiter along with an average salary package of 4.2 LPA.
