The Kerala Agricultural University in Thrissur offers several Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses in several departments such as Agricultural Engineering, Forestry, Horticulture, Community Science and so on. Candidates should have cleared their 10+2 or equivalent exam in the relevant stream with minimum aggregate percentage ranging from 45%-50% depending on the specific course they are applying for- BSc Agriculture where the percentage requirement is 50%, BTech Agricultural Engineering where the candidate should have scored 45% in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry together and BSc Forestry where the candidate should have secured 45% in Biology group. Accepted tests: KEAM/AIEEE for engineering, Icar’s AIEEA for agriculture sciences and other related disciplines. The eligibility criteria get relaxed by 5% for the SC/ST candidates as per the rules.
These are programs that include Bachelor of Science, Master and Doctors in various fields such as agriculture, horticulture, forestry, food science, biotechnology, climatology, among others. Other programs offered include BSc Agriculture, BTech Agricultural Engineering, BSc Forestry, MSc Agriculture majoring in a certain area, MTech Agricultural Engineering and PhD. Admission for 2024 session will start late of 2023. For undergraduation, candidates have to apply and appear in entrance exams related to KEAM by June 2023. Postgraduate candidates sit for ICAR’s AIEEA which will be conducted in July/August 2023 for this academic year. As for the application forms for all the various programs, they will be made available on the University’s website by April 2023. The schedule for counselling and admission will be intimated later after the declaration of the entrance tests in mid 2023 as per rules and regulations framed by the regulatory authority and the state government.
Kerala Agricultural University or KAU, which is situated at Thrissur, accepts applications for its various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, agricultural engineering and related science fields each year. For the Online Application, students have to http: //admissions.kau.in and for the http://www.kau.in/ new admission portal there is no need to give details of the marks of the qualifying examination, documents, photograph and signature or pay the application fee online and to submit the form. Offline mode of application can also be made by obtaining a printed application form from the mentioned bank branches along with the enclosures of the documents required and by depositing the Application Fees through Demand Draft at the university office. The admissions are granted competitively based on the students’ performance in entrance examinations and academic stream. The university administers and sits its own entrance examinations at several centers. For the candidates who have been selected on the shortlist, there is a need to attend a counseling session as per the appointed timetable. It only takes the step of approving the admission documents, payment of charges against the admitted course within the due date, and joining the course admitted.
- Normally KAU comes up with the notification for admittance to the B.Sc. To come over this lacuna, KAU admits the students in agricultural and allied programs in April/May each year and details of the admission can also be obtained from their website www.kau.in.
- Admissions for the programmes are competitive and are based on an entrance examination administered by the university. The exam is normally in June.

- It’s usual that a candidate should pass Class 12th in science stream for them to be eligible to apply and the university usually sets weight on the minimum grades attained.

2. It is based on the merit they obtain in the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical ( KEAM ) entrance examination conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala.
3. In addition, the pass in mathematics is necessary for the candidates wishing to get to the B.Sc Forestry program.
4. As per government norms, the facilities to reserve the seats under different quotas including state merits, management, sports, and persons with disabilities etc is available.
5. Lateral entry to the second year of the B.Sc programs is also allowed for diploma holders, following which the selection is done on the basis of rank obtained in the Lateral Entry test conducted by CEE.

2. Decide which B.Sc. depending on the program you wish to pursue – there are programs in Agriculture, Forestry, Food Science & Technology, Community Science, etc.
3. On the university’s portal, the user is required to sign up and create a login ID and password.
4. Complete online application with all the relevant details as instructed in the form correctly. For this you will have to upload scanned copies of some document related to 10th and 12th marksheets, certificates ,photos etc.
5. Submit an online application fee for the kind of category you apply for (amount also varies).
6. Use the login credentials to monitor the progress of your application to determine whether you have been selected for counseling/admission.
7. In case, get selected for short listing, then attend the university counseling as per the dates provided. Photocopy with the original documents and/or eligibility certificates as proof.
8. If enrolled, ensure you pay the admission fees for the program before the expiry of the given date.
- Majority of the intakes are competitively done depending on the score obtained in the Kerala engineering architecture medical exam. Ranking obtained in this test together with the choice of the candidate decides the college that he/she will be posted to.
- For the admission into government engineering colleges in Kerala, the eligibility criteria is closely biased towards the ranks obtained in KEAM and reservation norms. The cutoff ranks that a student needs to secure to get through a particular college or branch may differ in each year.
- Some of the private self-financing colleges require KEAM ranks while some of the colleges give their own written test or interview for admission. This is presumably because the admission requirements of private colleges are less stringent.
- Apart from education, factors like candidate’s home district, management/NRI quota, availability of seats in certain branches and so on have influence on the selection process.
- Visit the website of the college to find out about their B.Tech programs, the requirements to qualify for admission, how to apply and the time limits. Some of the things that the colleges may require are an online application form to complete.
- As a general requirement, passing your 12th standard with physics, chemistry and mathematics is usually required. There can be certain standards that may include the minimum percentage or the required marks in certain exams.
- Keep your mark sheets and passing certificates of the 10th and 12th standard with you when applying. These you would need to upload/submit.
- The minimum academic requirements include passing entrance examinations like JEE Main and KEAM to join B.Tech programs. Screen for any examinations you may need to take.
- Check if the college has any domicile or nationality requirements that must be met before one can be considered for admission. Volumes may be subject to a quota in some situations.
