Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (LUVAS), Hisar is a veterinary university situated in Hisar, Haryana. LUVAS was established in 2010 offering education, research and extension education in veterinary, animal and fishery sciences. It is accredited by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) and Indian council of agricultural research (ICAR). LUVAS has been accredited grade ‘A’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). According to NIRF Ranking 2023 LUVAS stands 55th among agricultural universities of India.
LUVAS provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in various disciplines such as Veterinary sciences, Animal Production, Dairy Technology, Fisheries Science, Food Technology, Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology etc. LUVAS admission process for the BVSc & AH and BTech programs for the batch 2024 will start in May 2023. For BVSc & AH program, university takes LUVAS UG Entrance Test (LUVET) in June/July 2023 as the entrance examination. For the BTech and other undergraduate programs, the admission criteria are merit in the qualifying examination, which is 10+2. MVSc and PhD admissions at PG level are done through entrance examination, marks scored in the qualifying degree and interview.
It is noteworthy that LUVAS has a very good placement record and its graduates. Over 80 reputed companies including leading dairy cooperatives such as Amul and Mother Dairy, veterinary pharmaceutical companies like Indian Immunologicals, AniMed Biotech etc come to the campus for recruitment. In 2023, the highest salary package offered to the graduates was around 18 LPA. More than 85% of the students were offered placement through campus placements. The salary trends vary between 5 to 7 LPA which indicates the high demand of LUVAS graduates in respective industries.
