Darbhanga based Lalit Narayan Mithila University is one of the largest universities in Bihar which provides various Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses in Science, Commerce, Arts, Law, Education and Management streams. These are B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, B.C.A, B.B.A, M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, L.L.B, B.Ed and M.B.A. The requirement of each program differs in regard to the eligibility. For the BA course, qualifying 12th or equivalent in relevant stream is mandatory, while for BSc, qualifying 12th with science with at least 45% marks is required. For BCom the requirement is 12th commerce with 50% marks and for BCA 12th with Mathematics background is needed. MA, MSc, MCom, and MCom require graduation with 50% marks in the respective stream while LLB requires graduation with 50% aggregate or 45% for SC/ST candidates. MBA requires graduation with 50% in any stream. To pursue BEd one needs to have a graduation with a minimum of 50 percentage and a one-year teacher training certificate. The University offers admission based on entrance tests such as Bihar BEd-CET for BEd programme and MAT, CMAT, CAT for MBA programme.

They include science, commerce, arts, education, management, and law faculties in several departments throughout the University. The following are the tentative dates for admission process for 2024 session: Online form filling is available from April 1, 2023 to June 15, 2023, entrance examination in the first half of July, declaration of result by August 20, 2023, counselling in September, and the session starting from October 1, 2023. - The weightage distribution is 70% in the entrance exam and 30% in GD/PI.
