Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Madurai is a state university located in city of Madurai in the Tamil Nadu state of India. It was established in the year 1966 and it is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and recently it has been graded as ‘A’ by the NAAC in 2022. While analyzing the NIRF rankings in 2023, the MKU was placed in the band of 76-100 among all the universities in India.
It provides different courses in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral level in faculties of arts, sciences, education, fine arts, management, technology and engineering. The most common courses offered are BA, BCom, BSc, BEd, MA, MSc, MCom, MCA, MBA, and ME/MTech. The admission process usually commences in May for every year, and any chosen student may be able to finish all admission processes by September after a counselling sessions.
MKU has a very effective placement cell for the final year students where students get placement from campus itself. The best organizations like TATA Consultancy Services, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Infosys, and Larsen & Toubro have also been a part of the placement in the previous years. The annual salary offered by MKU has been up to Rs. 8 lakh per annum for the highest paid employee while it has been Rs. 2.5 to 4 lakh per annum for the average paid candidates. The trend of placements in the university has been on the rise with more and more companies coming to the campus and more than 75% of the eligible candidates from MKU generally get placed in different fields like computer science, IT, engineering, management, commerce and other fields every year.

The placements of students in industries and offices are purely handled by the placement cell in Madurai Kamaraj University. Some of the companies that have their recruitment programs for fresh graduates from this university include Tata consultancy Services, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, HCL technologies and Tech mahindra. The maximum salary package offered in last couple of years was Rs, 18 lakhs per annum offered by a financial services oriented company. The gross pay scale offered to employees varies between Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 4 lakhs per annum. In the last academic year that has ended recently the placement drive was conducted in the campus and the placement rate of the eligible students was found to be nearly 60% of the total students.
