NIT Mizoram is one of the National Institutes of Technology established by Government of India under the NIT Act 2005 only 31 NITs are there in India. All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has endorsed NIT Mizoram and Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has acknowledged NIT Mizoram. It has been accredited Grade ‘A’ by NAAC, which is the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Presently NIRF Rankings 2023 has placed NIT Mizoram in 151 rank among Engineering colleges in India.
NIT Mizoram is a technical university that is competent in offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in a variety of disciplines including Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Among them some of the most opted b-tech programs are computer science & engineering, electronics & telecommunication engineering, electrical & electronics engineering, mechanical engineering and civil engineering. JEE Mains is the common entrance test for admission to these programs and once cleared there is a counselling session. Besides, there is another way to get admission for students who are living abroad and that is DASA (Direct Admission for Students Abroad).

1. Candidate should have passed 10 + 2 examination with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry subjects with minimum 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) taken together.
2. For admission into BTech programs, the candidate must have valid JEE Main score. For some categories, minimum qualifying marks may apply.
3. The candidate willing to apply for MSc must have passed the relevant bachelor’s degree with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST).
4. For MBA, candidate must have passed the bachelor degree in any stream with minimum 60% marks and have to take CAT/MAT examination.
5. For MCA, candidate should be a graduate in any discipline with minimum 60% marks and Mathematics up to 10+2 standard.
6. For MTech, candidate must have passed BTech/BSc in the concerned specialized area with first division or minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST).
NIT Mizoram placements also depicts that it has gradually enhanced year after year. The 2024 placements saw more than 200+ students getting placed across different organisations. Companies where recruiters were present included Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, L&T Technology Services, Accenture among others. The maximum salary offered in the campus recruitment was Rs 18, 000/- per month from American express with an average salary of Rs 6.8, 000/- per month. In this year 85% and above students were placed in different companies which were offering them jobs. The sectors that were most active in recruiting students were IT, software development, core engineering, manufacturing.
