Patna University (PU) will be established in 1917 and it is the seventh oldest university in the Indian subcontinent. It is an NAAC Grade A University established in Patna, Bihar and under the University ranking of NIRF Ranking 2023, it has ranked 60 under University category. It is an affiliating cum examining body, with more than 300 constituent and affiliated colleges located in Patna and Nalanda districts exclusively. A university, the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in humanities, social sciences, sciences, engineering, law and commerce.
PU provides the UG and PG courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Education and Law namely B.A, B.Sc., B.Com, M.A, M.Sc., M.Com, M.Ed, LL.B and five year integrated courses. For most courses, merit in the qualifying examination is considered for admission. For certain PG courses, the University also undertakes the Post Graduate Entrance Test (PGET). The time tables are normally released in April – May. The process for applying for admission in the year 2024 shall begin after declaration of the results of +2 examinations.
The placements at the Patna University have been on the rise as far as the year pattern is concerned. TCS, Infosys, Wipro, ICICI, HDFC, Axis bank are top recruiters of this college The majority of the students gets placed in the IT sector and the average salary package offered to the students is between 3-4 LPA, though some of the talented students are placed with as high as 15 LPA in present years.
