Pondicherry University, Pondicherry was established in 1985 and is offering a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, science, engineering, medicine and management streams. In terms of requirement to qualify for enrollment, there can be differences from one department to another. For admission in Btech courses in CSE, ECE, Mechanical, and Civil engineering, the candidate must have passed their 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with minimum 60% marks. For the BA in English, Economics and History programs, the candidate should have passed twelfth standard with any group with minimum 50% marks. The BSc programmes in Physics Chemistry Maths Botany and Zoology have been designed for 12th Science stream pass students with a minimum of 55% marks. It conducts its own entrance examination for admission into Higher studies for Engineering and Management as well as accepts national level tests like JEE Main for BTech, GATE for MTech and CAT/MAT for MBA.
The university provides its students with undergrad and postgrad programs in faculties of Science, Arts & Humanities, Medicine & Health Science, Business & Management and Engineering.
The admission procedure followed in Pondicherry University is an online admission process along with an offline admission process as well. The admission portal is opened whole year at University website www.pondiuni.edu.in, candidates can apply online. The Common Application Form for admission in various UG & PG Courses gets started mostly in the Month of May every year. However, the candidates can also use an offline method by picking a copy of the application form from the university’s administrative block provided they pay the needed amount.)

Pondicherry University has many departments that are providing several Undergraduate programs. The eligibility criterion depends with the departments of the specific institution. For B.Tech programs in various disciplines for the School of Engineering & Technology students should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and mathematics. The acceptable entrance exams are the JEE Advanced, the JEE Main and the BITSAT. Undergraduate courses like the B.Sc courses, offered in the departments of Botany, Chemistry, Physics and many more need the student to pass the 10+2 level with the right subjects. Some of the acceptable tests include the JEE Main, and the Pondicherry University Entrance Test (PUET). In B.Com and BA Economics programs by Department of Commerce and Management Studies the admission is in 10+2 in any stream. PuET and JEE Main are the only exams eligible for Polytechnic Diploma Holders. The B.A English program under Department of English and Foreign Languages requires 10+2 in any stream as the eligibility and students are admitted based on PUET scores.
