SVPUAT is a state agricultural university in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, India and has been named after a great freedom fighter and the first Home Minister of independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It was established in 2000 and is mainly involved in education, research and extension in agriculture and related sciences. It is recognized under section 2(f) of the University Grant Commission (UGC) and acknowledged by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). The college has an A+ grade from NAAC which is the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. According to NIRF ranking 2023, SVPUAT stands at the 65th place in Agricultural universities of India.
SVPUAT provides undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in all specialties of agricultural sciences. Some of the major courses offered are BSc in Agriculture, Food Technology, Horticulture, Forestry and Technology and BTech in Agricultural Engineering among others. Most of the UG programmes require the candidates to take state or national level entrance examinations.
SVPUAT has a very good placement record for its students. The top recruiters in this field are Mother Dairy, Amul, Nestle, Parle, PepsiCo and Godrej Agrovet. The placement record of the college for the year 2023 had over 80% of the eligible students getting placed with the highest salary package up to 15 LPA and an average salary ranging between 4- 6 LPA.
