Sikkim Professional University (SPU) is one of the private universities of India located at Gangtok, Sikkim. SPU was established in 2018 as one of the nascent universities in North East India but has grown rapidly in a very short period to become one of the premier universities imparting professional education. At present, SPU has NAAC accreditation of B++ level, and in the NIRF 2023 rankings, it is in the 101-150 band; it incorporates under graduation, postgraduation, and doctoral level programs in management, commerce, engineering, law, etc.
SPU is a diverse university providing career oriented programs at undergraduates, postgraduate and doctoral levels comprising of BBA, Bcom, BCA, BA LLB, B.Tech in CSE/ECE/Civil Engineering among others. The admission to these programs can either be direct or through national/state level entrance exams. The respective exam dates and application deadlines for the academic year 2024 admission will be shortly announced at the University’s website. It also has merit scholarships up to full tuition discount to qualified students in SPU. The academic year is typically as of 3rd week of August each year and lasts for 2 semesters. Since SPU has a particular emphasis on skill development, professional training and career readiness, the University secures internships, industrial visits, and engages industries in live projects.
