Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University Jaipur is a state agriculture university situated at Jobner, Jaipur district, Rajasthan. It was founded in 2013 and is accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the University Grants Commission. NAAC has accredited SKNAU at grade ‘B’ in 2020. According to the NIRF 2023 university ranking, SKNAU has been ranked 101 amongst agricultural universities in India. The main goal of the university is to offer standard education as well as vocational training in various sub specialties of agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and related fields. Situated in sprawling campus over 1100 acres, SKNAU has state of art infrastructure to support teaching learning process, research and extension work.
SKNAU provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in the faculties of agriculture, horticulture, forestry and home science. Some of the leading UG courses are B.Sc. Agriculture, B.Sc. Horticulture, B.Sc. Forestry, BFA and B.Sc. Home Science. The Post Graduate programmes offered are M.Sc. Agriculture, M.Sc. Horticulture and M.Sc. Agriculture with sub-theme in Forestry, Genetics, Plant breeding, Seed science and Agronmy etc The admission for 2024 academic year begins in May each year. It is also important to note that entrance exam dates will be communicated to the candidates on this website. It is on merit basis based on their performance in the qualifying examination/entrance test. The application form shall also be obtained online while the exams shall be sat at specific examination centers.
Thus, the placement record in SKNAU is really good, and many leading companies in the agriculture sector visit the campus every year. The leading recruiters are IFFCO, Coromandel Intl, UPL Ltd, PI Industries, etc. 90% of the 2021-22 graduating batch got placed with the highest salary package of 15 LPA and an average package of 6 LPA. The placement cell also conducts training programmes in soft skills, communication, analytical skills so that the employability of the students may be enhanced. 1. For the undergraduate courses such as BSc Agriculture, BSc Horticulture, candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination in science/agriculture stream with minimum 50% (45% for SC/ST) marks.
2. For the master’s programs like MSc Agriculture, MSc Horticulture, the candidate needs to possess a bachelor’s degree in the respective specialization with minimum 50% marks for open category candidates (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in the relevant discipline from a recognized University.
3. For the PhD programs, the candidate should have passed a master’s degree in the concerned specialization with at least 55% marks in the aggregate and the candidate has to clear the university entrance test along with the interview.
4. Placement exposure in related field is considered during admission to all programmes. Recommendation letter and research proposal is also needed in PhD programs.
5. Minimum age of applicant should be 17 years for the undergraduate program and 21 years for postgraduate programs as per university rules.
6. SC/ST/OBC candidates would be given five percent relaxation in the minimum percentage requirement for all the programs. There is limited provision for these categories of students as per the government norms.
