SVYASA is a deemed university for Yoga practices located in Bangalore, India. It is dedicated to teaching and learning of yoga and the use of the discipline in various fields. SVYASA has received NAAC Grade ‘A++’ and is accredited at 2nd position in NIRF India Rankings 2023 under University Category. The university carries out different programmes at UG, PG and doctoral levels in, yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, yoga science etc.
The university provides various UG and PG level courses such as B.Sc. (Yoga Therapy), B.A. (Yoga Philosophy & Practice), M.A. (Yoga Philosophy & Practice), M.Sc. (Yoga Therapy) etc. Admission notification is advertised in the month of March every year. It also revealed that for the admissions to be made in the academic year 2024, the intake process is expected to start in the month of March 2023. The university conducts the entrance examination in the month of May every year and it is in May 2023. There are also various forms of scholarships to deserving students are also offered. The classes are supposed to commence in July.
It also has well equipped modern research labs and 750 bedded hospital to treat the patient by practicing SVYASA yoga. It also has partnerships with different universities within the country and from other countries. The college provides 100% placement assistance for job oriented courses in pharmaceutical companies, yoga studios, spas etc The cell places the students in reputed organizations like AYUSH Ministry, Ramaiah Group of Hospitals, Art of Living etc. The salary structure of the organization varies in the range of 3 lakhs to 8 lakhs per annum. Highest package noted till date is of 12 Lacs per annum. There are impressive employment rates with more than 85% of students getting placed in the university per year. 1. For yoga instructor training, the candidates should have passed 12th with 50% overall marks from any stream along with a certificate in yoga with a minimum of 200 hours.
2. For the yoga therapy programs, the applicant should be a holder of a bachelors degree in any field with 50% marks on the given scale and should have met the yoga instructor course of not less than 200 hours.
3. The program of yoga therapy needs applicants to be holders of bachelors’ degree in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, or naturopathy with a yoga instructor course.
4. For postgraduate doctoral programmes in yoga following qualification are required A postgraduate degree in Yoga therapy or Yoga studies with minimum of 55% marks and 2 years working experience in the field of Yoga.
5. Yoga for wellness instructor courses recruit Yoga instructor certification minimum 200 hours valid medical certificates for CPR and first aid and health screening.
6. The short-term yoga programs are available for anyone above the age of 18 years and in good health to train, and thus there is a need for health fitness from a doctor and valid ID.
SVYASA is a deemed university in Bengaluru and is involved in offering different types of yoga education. The university offers certificate, diploma and undergraduate and post graduate degree programmes in Yoga as well as integrative medicine.
The certificate programs offered are as short as 15 days for a basic yoga instructor and go up to 1 year for a yoga therapist. The diploma courses provided are those of yoga therapy, yoga studies, yogic counseling, and advanced teacher training. SThese diploma programs take between 6 months and 2 years of study.
B.A. programme in Yoga Philosophy – This programme is designed for the duration of three years for the undergraduate category at SVYASA. B.Sc. program in Yoga Therapy. The programs taught at the postgraduate level include M.Sc. in Yoga Therapy and Yoga Philosophy and M.D in Yoga and Integrated Medicine. Other programs include post graduate and Doctorate such as PhD.
