Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a Deemed University established in the year 1936, with emphasis on social sciences, humanities and social work. Initially started in 1936 in Mumbai, it has expanded today into multi-campus university with centres in almost all regions of India. The institute is UGC recognized and has an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). According to the NIRF Rankings 2023, TISS ranks 37th among the universities in the country.
TISS is blessed with a vast array of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs with focuses on social work, public policy, economics, media & culture, education. Some of the popular courses offered are masters of arts in social work, master of arts in development studies, master of arts in human resource management and labour relations. 1. Master’s programs are offered for those students who have completed their bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate.
2. MPhil programs require the candidate to possess masters degree with fifty five percent of the marks from a recognized university.
3. PhD programs consequently requires a master degree with 55% marks clear the entrance test and interview.
4. A candidate should have required 10+2 passed with 50% marks from any recognized Board for any Bachelors programs.
5. Diploma programs admit students who have completed their 10+2 years of education and meet the prerequisites based on categories defined by TISS.
