Tezpur University is one of the seven central universities established by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India in the year 2011 located at Tezpur, Assam, India. It was founded in 1994 and is accredited by University Grants Commission (UGC). The NAAC has accorded accreditation to Tezpur University and has granted it Grade A in 2016. As per NIRF Rankings 2023 among universities Tezpur University has secured 48th rank in the country.
It has several programs including undergraduate, postgraduate, masters and doctoral programs in fields such as engineering, sciences, arts, social sciences and management. Some of the common courses offered by Tezpur University are Btech in computer science, MSc in physics, MA in mass communication, MBA and PhD. The admission process is set for every year beginning from the month of May. Those candidates who wish to seek admission in Tezpur University have to take national or state level entrance tests such as GATE, CEED, DUET.

Tezpur University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Students in need of admission in UG programs should possess 10+2 or equivalent examination scores in the range of 50-60% as per the respective programs offered.
2. For PG programs, candidates require passing in the concerned Bachelor’s Degree examination with at least 50% to 60% of marks depending upon the program.
3. For the Ph.D, and MPhil programmes, one has to possess a master’s degree in the relevant field with at least 55% marks.
4. Concession in the criterion of minimum eligibility of marks: For admission in all the programs, a 5% relaxation will be given to the SC/ST/ PWD category candidates.
5. Other additional requirements may include entrance tests for some courses that may be required.
6. The maximum age for admission is 21 years for UG, While for PG/Research programs there is no age limit.
Tezpur University Placements 2024
The trend analysis of placements of Tezpur University shows an upward movement in the recent years. For the batch of 2024, a total of 367 students got placed in various companies and the highest package was of Rs 29.6 lakhs per annum provided by Microsoft. The median of the salary offered to the students was Rs 6,20,000 per year. They have some of the best recruiters such as Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys, Oracle, Bosch and later on almost all the IT companies and core engineering companies. Consequently, the placement rate has increase from a level of 60- 65% to a level of 85% in the last 4 years.
