The Karur Polytechnic College located at Karur, Tamil Nadu offers diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Telecommunication and Computer fields. The general entry requirement for these diploma programs offered in all departments is a pass in class 10 or its equivalent examination and must have obtained an average grade of 35% or more. The accepted qualifying examination include SSLC/SSC/ICSE/CBSE/NIOS. 

Some of the diploma courses that the college provides include a 3year Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Computer Engineering. It is opened in May every year for online application and offers admissions from first year to third year. Any person who has passed the Class X examination can apply. Qualifying examination results are used to evaluate merit in the context of admission to the program. The admission portal for the 2024-25 academic year is in May 2024 while the examination dates are in June 2024. All disciplines sit for examinations on the same dates. The counseling takes place in August after the result is released in July. The classes for the new batch start from August 2024 onwards. Total number of seats in five branches are 420, out of which fifty percent are given as per the rules of government.

- They admit students through the common entrance test conducted by the Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education (TNDTE). There is an examination familiar as Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test or TANCET for short.

- TANCET exam for diploma courses includes physics, chemistry, and mathematics based on the 10th/SSLC standard. The candidates should obtain certain minimum marks in each subject for them to qualify.

- Apart from the TANCET score, the marks scored by the candidates in their 10th/SSLC board examination also play a role, especially when preparing the merit list and breaking the ties. 

- As per the rules of Tamil Nadu government, the seats are reserved for the candidates belonging to the reserved categories such as SC/ST.

- The admissions are offered strictly according to merit within each category that means the category wise candidates are selected on the basis of their TANCET score and the next preference is given to the 10th standard marks where the TANCET scores are the same.

- After the TANCET merit list is compiled, counseling sessions are held in which the students may select the branch and college according to their rank/score.
