Karur Polytechnic College is one of the leading colleges situated in the Karur District of the Tamil Nadu state. It was founded in 1984, recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and affiliated with the Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Chennai. It was accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council in 2022 with an ‘A’ Grade and an overall score of 3.11 out of 4. The NIRF ranking of this polytechnic in the year 2023 was 151 in the overall ranking of polytechnic institutions in India.
The institute provides diploma courses in various fields of study such as Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and others. The admissions are based on candidates’ 10+2 marks with preference to SCs / STs / OBCs / physically challenged / widows / divorced. The admission to the 2024 batch will begin in May 2023. The semester end tests are normally administered in the November and April-calendar months respectively. Details for examinations to be sat in 2024 will be available at a later date.. 1. Candidates seeking admission for diploma programs should have passed the 10th standard or any equivalent examination from a recognized board. Percentage needed range from 35% to 45% depending on the program.
2. The criteria for admission for lateral entry intake in 2nd year of diploma courses is 12th Std/ITI or its equivalent in the concerned discipline. Minimum percentage of marks in aggregate is 45%.
3. For diploma courses, the candidate should have passed 10th Std. with Mathematics, Science and English as main subjects. Other requirements are also different depending on the discipline.
4. The age criterion for applying to diploma programs is that the candidates shall not be more than 30 years of age as on 1st of July of the year of admission. Age relaxation wherever permissible as per norms.
5. As per Tamil Nadu govt rules for minimum eligibility, the age and percentage relaxation to reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC).
6. The candidates fulfilling all the specified eligibility criteria can apply online or offline before the last date mentioned above. Admission is given strictly on merit basis on qualifying examination. Counselling may be applicable.
