Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University MBSPSU is a State University which is situated at Patiala, Punjab and is dedicated to sports. MBSPSU was founded in 2018 but now it has earned a good reputation in a short period. It has NAAC Grade A certification and was ranked 75 among universities in India in the NIRF ranking in 2023. MBSPSU has specific programs which are set with the view of producing world beacons in athletic, sports, and leadership domains. The contemporary campus is located on more than 100 acres of land and boasts of great sports amenities.
MBSPSU confers bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in different areas of interest such as sports sciences, sports technology, sports management, and physical education. Some of the most sought after courses are BPEd, MPEd, BPES, MPES and other specializations which include sports coaching, sports psychology, sports journalism etc. Admissions are offered every year, and the process begins in May. The entrance tests are held in July and the results are declared in August for the batch effective from September. The current fees vary between INR 35,000 and INR 150,000 per annum. Another important aspect is that examination schedules are always published in advance, and the examinations are usually conducted in November and May of each year.
MBSPSU has been able to secure good places over the years as shown below; Notable recruiters are Decathlon, SIGA, Tenvic, Onsurity and Puma with median salary offers of INR 3-8 lakh per annum. The maximum placement till date has been INR 18 LPA. Regarding placement, 112 students were placed in 27 companies in 2022 with a record of 83%. This has been due to enhanced internships, sports activities, industries linkage, and career guidance offered throughout the course. MBSPSU has indeed carved a niche for itself as one of the premier sports universities across India, and the growth is promising.

1. Bachelor's Degree Programs
Minimum requirement is to have cleared 12th board exams in relevant stream with 50% marks. Participation in sports at district /state level necessary. Age limit is 25 years.
2. Master's Degree Programs
Applicants should possess a relevant bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks. Some activities require the students to represent their university in competitions with other universities. Some programs may include work experience as part of the course requirements.
3. PhD Programs
A master’s degree in the relevant discipline from a reputed university with at least 55% of the marks. Must qualify entrance exam. Research proposal submitted and Interview also done.
4. Diploma Courses
Minimum qualification: 10+2 pass in relevant stream mandatory. State/national school games participation must be compulsory. Program-wise skill assessments conducted. Maximum age allowed is twenty-eight years.
5. Certificate Courses
The qualification depends on the certain course. Candidates with strong sports achievements at school or college level will be preferred. Skill-based assessments done. No upper age limit.
6. Short Term Courses
Open to all backgrounds. The candidate must have a very keen interest in sports and should possess minimum qualifications expected. Course content-based assessment that involves evaluation of what has been taught in the classroom. Requirements: Minimum age of 16 years.
