The Neotia University Kolkata has numerous programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in different disciplines of engineering, medicine, law, management, sciences, humanities, and commerce, etc. The requirement changes according to branch and course. For the B.Tech program, pass in 12th or equivalent in PCM is essential along with the minimum 50% marks in PCM and students have to clear WBJEE and JEE Mains exams. These exams are undertaken according to the set time table released by the concerned authorities such as WBJEEB, NTA, LSAC, TISS, etc. Dates are usually in the February to July period. Admission process begins with registration for entry tests or direct admissions depending upon the merit and is followed by counseling and selective admission process based on merit. The last dates may defer from one course to the other.
The Neotia University Kolkata has facility of online as well as offline mode of submitting the application for admissions.
In case of online applications, one should visit the University website for admission details at www.tnu.in followed by admissions tab. Please find the list of programs below and choose the program you want to apply for and click on the ‘Apply Now’ link. You will need an account and input all the necessary information in the application form. You can also scan your documents, make the application fee through online, and submit your application.
If you are applying for offline admission, the application forms can be downloaded from the website or you can pick it up personally from the university admission office. This entails providing your personal and academic information in the form and the need to paste a passport photograph as well as enclosing copies of the necessary documents. Enclose the completed application form with the application fee, demand draft in favour of ‘The Neotia University’ to be deposited at TNU Admission Office / TNU Enrolment Services either by hand or by post / courier.
Process for filling up of Admission Form online Read the instructions carefully before filling up the form:
- Most of the B.Tech admissions are given depending on the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) rank/score.
- Applicants must have passed 10+2 exams wherein Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are the main subjects. It is further stipulated that these subjects should have been passed with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).
- It is done through centralized counselling process of WBJEE followed by candidates’ preference for the seats and availability of seats as per their ranks in WBJEE.
- From the total number of seats available, 85% of seats are admitted on the basis of the merit acquired in the WBJEE examination. The remaining 15% seats are filed in the other categories such as TFW, cultural, sports and so on.
- There is counseling where TFW scheme and cultural/sports quotas are provided and merit lists are made.
- As per West Bengal government norms, there are waiting list and reservations for SC, ST, OBC, PwD candidates also.

2. Choose the B.Tech program and the specialization type that you wish to apply for. Some of the programs currently being offered at the school include Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering among others.
3. All the details regarding the openings link of ‘Apply Now’ or ‘Application Form’ and start completing the online application form. When applying for admission you will be required to fill in your details that include your personal, academic and contact information.
4. Upload scanned images of the required documents such as Pass photo, signature, Mark sheets of class X and XII etc in the specified format. Pay the application fees via the online mode.
5. Upon submitting this form, the application process is done and you may need to print the accomplished form. It is also important that you ensure to write down the application/reference number.
6. After this, if you are selected, then you will have to go through counseling rounds, where original documents will be verified, fees will be paid, medicals will be done, and other admission formalities that may be required, will be done.
7. Before applying for admission, read the admission schedule, eligibility requirements and other requirements/ deadlines well. For any other question, please consult the university admissions office.
- In most cases, the admission process is usually carried out in the period beginning May-June of the year. The notification and application form is consequently disseminated through the official website of the university.
- To be eligible for admission in the course, the candidate should have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English. The minimum conduct requirement in respect of the total of the units is normally 50% of the aggregate.
- It has merit based on qualifies examination marks for admission in any course of the college. Also, there may be an entrance examination which is normally conducted.
- The number of seats that are offered by TNU Kolkata for admission in BPT is around one hundred, and they have several specializations as well.
- It involves the process of counselling rounds where students are allocated their preferred colleges according to their ranks, number of seats available and their preferences for certain specializations.
- Usually the admission formalities along with submission of relevant documents and fees have to be deposited before commencing the classes which has to be completed by the end of third or beginning of fourth week of July.
- Sponsored candidates are admitted based on merit in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent), and an entrance examination conducted by the university.
- For the entrance test the candidates need to solve 50 questions in 1hour and tests both general aptitude and knowledge in physics, Chemistry, Biology and General knowledge.
- The basic qualification required for this course is the completion of 10+2, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects in the final exam with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST).
- As in the qualifying examination, the applicant shall have secured at least 50% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST).
- Final selection takes into account marks obtained in the qualifying exam as well as entrance exam in an 85:15 ratio The number 15 is used in the ratio because it allows the company to compare the cost of making the product to the amount of cash the company has on hand to make the product.
- There are also some medical requirements that in relation to adaptability degree are needed to meet by the candidates within the framework of the selection process.

- Recruitment is done through advertisements placed in newspaper and on the university website where all the vacancies are advertised. Still, a notification will appear, so keep an eye out for it.
2. Eligibility Criteria
- FSc or equivalent in science group with subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics. Must have 50% marks in aggregate for all the students irrespective of their branch.
3. Entrance Test
- To pursue your higher education in west bengal, you will need to sit for the WBJEE, which is an entrance exam for admissions in under graduate courses in different fields. Optometry is one of the disciplines as it involves using contact lenses to make changes to one’s appearances.
4. Counselling
- The qualified candidates in the entrance exam will then be asked to attend a counselling session and should attend it personally. Your rank, preferences, and availability of seats will be used to determine the admission status.
5. Documents Required
- Original documents include; 10th and 12th mark sheets, entrance exam admit card and score card, domicile certificate, passport photos etc., will be required during the counselling session.
6. Tuition Fees
- The cost of the course is about rupees three thousand five hundred only per semester and other overhead charges would cost around the same amount.
