Thiruvalluvar University is a state university that has its campus in Vellore within Tamil Nadu in India. A premier institution set up in the year 2002 by the Government of Tamil Nadu with UGC recognition. There is an accreditation given by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to the university and it has been graded A in 2022. It has different undergraduate and graduate courses as well as research courses in arts, science, education, Management, law, Physical Education and others. Exams are set to be held at the end of each semester, namely in the months of November and April. Intake for the fresh batch of 2024 will be made in May 2023. One can apply online or by doing a walk-in by duly filling the prescribed application form and paying the required fee. Thiruvalluvar University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For undergraduate programmes as BA, BSc, BCom: The candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination recognized by the board and the minimum passing percentage varies between 35% to 45% depending on the programme concerned.
2. Universities also accept students with completed relevant bachelor’s degree with minimum aggregate marks ranging between 40-50% depending on the program for postgraduate programs such as MA, MSc, MCom.
3. For MPhil programs – must be having postgraduation degree in the specific subject with minimum 55 % aggregate marks. A candidate must have qualified the entrance test conducted by the university.
4. For PhD programs – Possessing a masters degree in the respective subject with not less than 55% aggregate. Passing the entrance test and interview administered by the University as the basic and essential requirement for admission to the University.
5. For diploma and certification programs – min 10+2 passed, for some courses minimum bachelor’s degree from a recognized board or University. Minimum education requirement is 6-8 years of education that is a minimum age limit of 16-18 years.

Being one of the most popular universities in the region, Thiruvalluvar University has a functional placement cell that provides opportunities for recruitment on campus. Some of the reputed companies that offer campus placements include TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro and many more who come to the campus to recruit fresh graduates and postgraduates. The maximum placed offer for the year 2021-22 was coming from an IT services company offering a package of Rs. 12,00,000/- per annum. Salary packages offered to candidates ranged from 3 lakh to 6 lakh per annum with an average of Rs. 4.2 lakh per annum.
Thus, 64% of the students from each campus got placed through campus drives in the previous academic year. It was found that the IT/software, banks and financial organizations, education sector and manufacturing industries have mostly embraced the concept of hiring professionals.
