Allahabad University, being established in 1887, is one of the oldest universities with central university status in India. Situated in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, it has been accredited by NAAC with A+ grade and according to NIRF Ranking 2023 it has been ranked 65. The University posses accreditation from the University Grant Commission (UGC) and it is also approved by the Ministry of Education. It provides undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees in different faculties such as arts, sciences, commerce, law, education, business administration, etc.
It has various programs cutting across faculties of arts, science, commerce, law education, fine arts, and management. The most preferred programs are the Undergraduate programmes such as the Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Bachelor of Education (BEd), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Arts (MA) in subjects like English, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Political Science, Sanskrit, Psychology among Undergraduate courses require candidates to take UPSEE while University Exams or National level examinations are used for post graduate courses. University of Allahabad Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For undergraduate programs, the candidates should clear 10+2 or equivalent examination with necessary minimum marks based on the program and category.
2. For postgraduate programs, it is mandatory to have completion of relevant bachelor’s degree with a minimum percentage of marks for which percentage varies depending on the program and category of the course.
3. For MPhil and PhD, postgraduate degree with minimum 55 % marks is insisted for the candidate in addition to entrance test and interview.
4. Similarly for professional courses like LLB and MBBS, apart from having to clear the Allahabad University entrance exams students must qualify eligibility criteria set by certain regulatory bodies.
5. All programmes have minimum percentage of marks which have been relaxed for reserved category students comprising of SC, ST and OBC category.
6. Some of the non-chartered programs require the foreign students to produce an equivalence certificate from AIU besides passing English proficiency tests in some cases.
