The University of Ladakh is a state university situated in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. It was established in the year 2019 and is comparatively a new university that was established with the main objective of offering quality higher education in the region of Ladakh. The University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India and is a recognized university. It still has not received accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Currently, University of Ladakh is a new university and has been established in the year 2018, therefore it does not have a ranking in the NIRF 2023.

Undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral degrees and courses are offered by the university in various fields of study including sciences, social sciences, arts, commerce, education, law and many more. Some of the major courses include Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration popularly known as BBA & MBA, Bachelors of Arts, Bachelors of Commerce abbreviated as B.Com, Masters of Computer Application commonly known as MCA, Bachelors of Education abbreviated as B.Ed , Masters of Science known as M.Sc and so on. The admission process is usually in May every year and university has its own entrance test. Admission tests are likely to be conducted in May 2024 for the intake of the academic year 2024-25. Still, the University of Ladakh being a younger university, the placements have been satisfactory for the students. University of Ladakh Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)

1. For admission in undergraduate programs, the candidates must have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board and must have scored at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates). It is also important to note that there are subject prerequisites for some programs other than others.  

2. For all postgraduate programs, a candidate should have a relevant bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with minimum 50% marks for open category candidates and 45% for reserved categories. Applicants may be expected to write entrance exams for some of the courses offered.  

3. According to the eligibility criteria of MPhil and PhD, the candidates must have passed a relevant master’s degree of a recognized university with at least 55% marks. A written entrance examination and interview are mandatory. Research proposal also has to be prepared and sent to the relevant authorities.

4. In case of the diploma and certification courses, the candidate must pass in 10+2 examination. Some of the advanced diploma courses require a relevant bachelor’s degree with pass standard.  

5. The government rules of reservation are to be followed for Ladakh UT candidates if they come under the reserved category of ST/SC/OBC/EWS. PWD candidates also have the privilege of being afforded 5% reservation.

6. The migrant people from Kashmir and nomadic tribes who are designated for Ladakh can avail supernumerary seats as per the norms of University. Marks are awarded for NCC/NSS/sports certificates.

The University of Ladakh was set up in the year 2019 at Leh, which is in the union territory of Ladakh. It provides undergraduate and postgraduate programs, degrees, diplomas, and certificates in Arts, Science, Commerce, and other fields in various campuses. The maximum of the placement packages recorded in the calendar year 2021 was Rs. 8 lakhs per annum offered by Tata Consultancy Services. The average salary package that is offered lies between Rs. 3-5 lakhs per annum. On an average, about 60% of the student gets placed through campus placement and off campus drives. Graduating students from Engineering and Management courses are the most sought-after candidates by these companies.
