The University of North Bengal (UNB) is one of the State Universities in the North Western part of West Bengal, India sited in the Darjeeling District. NaAC accredited UNB in Grade A and it is recognized by UGC which is located at North Bengal University established in 1962 and as per NIRF ranking of 2023 North Bengal University is at 129th position. Undergraduate, postgraduate degree courses, and doctoral programs are available in the university with disciplines including arts, science, commerce, engineering, medicine, law, and others.
It has undergraduate, postgraduate, masters and doctoral programs in faculties of arts, sciences, business administration, law, education, music, music and fine arts, engineering, technology and medicine. An estimated 50 academic departments provide over 200 programmes for students in various fields. Regarding the admission eligibility, it should be noted that the admission to different courses is based on the exams conducted by the university or by passing national and/or state exams. M.A., M.Sc, M.Com. courses for post-graduation are also offered. etc begin in July every year, and a few undergraduate programs in professional fields. The admission process for the UNB for the session 2023-24 is yet to be announced, however, it is expected that the admission test for postgraduate courses will take place in June 2023 and UG admission based on various entrance exams will be in July – August 2023.
UNB has its own placement and career guidance cell to find the right job for students and get placed in reputed companies/ institutions. Some of the reputed IT companies that have a frequent recruitment practice from North Bengal university are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, IBM, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Dell, etc. The highest salary offered so far in campus placements is up to 18 lakhs per annum. Year on year, the average percentage of placements for UG and PG programs is maintained above 80 percent. Students passing out from UNB finds job opportunities in it services, software industry, banking, education sector, public sector enterprises, government jobs, and so on. There has been a good relationship between the university and different organizations and institutes in matters pertaining to internships, industrial trainings and recruitment.

University of North Bengal Placements 2024
North Bengal University has a proper placement cell by which it provides opportunities to the students for employment. Campus recruitment is common with top IT companies visiting the institution to offer employment to qualified students, some of the companies that have been known to offer placements include Tata consultancy services, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, and accenture to mention but a few. Thus, the maximum salary package provided in the campus placements for the academic year of 2021-22 was Rs 32 lakh per annum offered by an IT services firm. We have observed that the average salary package offered at all branches is Rs 6.8 lakh per annum. It is noteworthy that more than 75% of the students who are eligible for placements got placed last year, and over 130 companies participated in the placement process. It also offers training and guidance to the students as they help in attaining better jobs to the students by the placement cell.
