Uttarakhand Sanskrit University is one of the State Universities in Haridwar established in the year 2005 by the Uttarakhand Government. It holds NAAC grade B++ and its NIRF ranking for the year 2023 places it in 101-150 Universities category. The university has the objectives to protect, encourage, and propagate Sanskrit language, literature, philosophy, and India culture. It provides the diploma, under graduate, post graduate and doctorate in the relevant fields related to Sanskrit, Ayurveda, Astrology, Vedas, Yoga.
Courses and programs that are offered at the university include: Shastri, B.A, Acharya, M.A, Diploma and Ph.D programs in Faculties of Sahitya, Vyakaran, Darshan, Ved, Jyotish and Ayurveda. Students are required to produce their marks obtained in the qualifying exam for entry into most courses. It is noteworthy that for the admission to the University, a common entrance test is held for Ph.D.

Uttarakhand Sanskrit University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. For admission to undergraduate programs, the candidate should have cleared their Class 12 or equivalent examination in any stream from a recognized board along with the minimum percentage stated for the particular programme.
2. For postgraduate programs passed respective bachelors degree with minimum percentage marks again depending on the program.
3. For MPhil, passed post graduation in respective subjects securing minimum 55% marks or equivalent grades.
4. For PhD, candidate has to pass the post graduation in the relevant subject with least 55% or equivalent grade. Should qualify entrance test.
5. Reduction in minimum eligibility conditions as per government norms in respect of Students belonging to reserved categories.
6. Foreign learners’ ability to meet the English admission requirements in various educational programs. Sometimes, English proficiency tests are necessary in order to obtain a visa or a work permit.
