Vardhman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU) Kota is one of the state universities of Rajasthan involved in distance education. The university was founded in 1987 and it has been granted accreditation by University Grant Commission (UGC) and Distance Education Bureau (DEB). The college is affiliated to the Sree Sathya Sai University, with NAAC accreditation at B++ level. In NIRF India Rankings 2023 which have been recently announced, VMOU Kota has secured overall 101st position among the universities in the country.
VMOU Kota has a wide variety of disciplines on its curriculum that can be taken at diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, PG Diploma, as well as certification levels. Some of the courses provided are B.A., B.Com, B.Sc, B.C.A, B.B.A and M.A in English, Economics, History, Sociology, Public Administration etc, M.Com, M.C.A M.Sc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Environmental Science etc.
VMOU Kota has a special placement cell and career guidance to provide the students appropriate job opportunities and internships. Some of the leading organisations that have been known to hire people from VMOU include Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Genpact, Concentrix, ICICI Bank & HDFC Bank. Maximum salary offered till 5 LPA and average salary from 2-3 LPA has been offered. The placement rate is much higher for PG programs and it is more than 80% and for the UG programs it is around 60% to 70% on average.
