Established in the year 1921, Visva Bharati University is situated in Santiniketan, in the state of West Bengal was started by Rabindranath Tagore. It is a Central University and an Institution of National Importance as well. Visva Bharati University is NAAC accredited with ‘A’ grade and is 37th as per NIRF India Rankings 2023.
It provides different bachelors, masters, and doctorate level programs in humanities, social, natural sciences, arts, music, dance. Some of the numerous major streams include arts, science, music, fine arts and education to mention but a few. The opportunity to attend most of the courses is granted on the basis of university entrance tests. Admissions are also offered on the basis of other national level tests including JEE Mains, CLAT. Visva Bharati University Eligibility Criteria 2024 (by Departments)
1. Candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination with not less than 50% Aggregate marks for open category students and 45% for SC/ST/OBC/KM candidates.
2. Any candidate should not be more than 22 years for undergraduate course while for post graduate programs the minimum age should be 20 years.
3. It is required to apply online through an application form and to scan important documents to submit them. As much as other fees such as registration and application fees are done online.
4. It follows the candidate’s results in 10+2 and university’s entrance test and interview. Weightage varies across programs.
5. Scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, OBC and persons with disabilities quota seats is also followed according to government norms. Some tension with the original criterion may be relaxed.
6. Foreign nationals are required to pay the fee through respective Indian missions abroad or directly to the University International Affairs as per the existing rules.

Visva Bharati University has a special placement cell in the name of ‘Central Placement Cell,’ which helps reputed industries for the recruitment of the final year or pass out students. Some of the renowned companies that were reported to visit Visva Bharati for campus placements are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Accenture, and Cognizant. The maximum package available in the campus placement drive in 2024 was Rs. 32,00,000/- per annum as offered by a financial service company. As for the salary, the average salaries for all the branches combined is Rs 6, 800 per annum respectively. Out of the total students, around 3150 students secured placements through the on-campus drives which constitutes to 68 percent.
