Medical education is provided by the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, WBUHS, located in Kolkata, which offers a range of medical and allied healthcare programs in different fields. The eligibility of student’s criteria depends with the department. MBBS aspirants must have 50% in Physics, Chemistry Biology either in their board exams WBCHSE, CBSE ISC or any any qualifying examination NEET. For BDS, the students need to secure 50 percent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology in standard 12th. BSc Nursing has 50% eligibility in PCB or PCM along with English in any Board Examination of Class 12. The university considers scores from tests such as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and tests conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board for its admissions processes.
The WBUHS has academic programs in various fields such as medical, dental, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and other disciplines. The key examination for the purpose of admission in will be NEET UG on 7th May 2024, WBJEE will be held on 29th April 2024 and GPAT will be held in December 2023. The WBUHS counseling takes place after the candidates have got their qualifying examination results. The application forms for different programs are available online in December 2023 or in January 2024 for the university. Applicants who wish to take admission in the college have to submit their applications online followed by which eligible candidates are offered counseling and provisional admission after document verification, medical examination and fee payment as mentioned in the admission notices released for session 2024-25. It has to be noted that the final select list is prepared stream and category-wise depending on the availability which comes prior to the start of the new session in August 2024.

The admission procedure of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata is fully online and the courses offered include undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. For admission, the students can directly go through the official website of West Bengal University of Health Sciences by visiting the wbuhs.ac.in where the students have to click on the ‘Online Admission’ link on the home page of the website. To access it one has to sign up and register by entering personal details that they provide for. Students then have to login using username and password which they will have provided at the time of the registration. The next process involves choosing the correct course and college/institution from the offers given and then complete the admission form by entering the correct personal, academic and contact details. In terms of fees payments, the options available are through credit card, debit card or through net banking. Information provided in the submitted application will be cross checked by the University and the successful candidates will be contacted through an e-mail and text message. Currently there is no form of admission that can be done self – offline. The whole process of application right from registration to scan and upload documents is done online and therefore saves time and efforts that would have been spent physically writing and submitting documents.

WBUHS Kolkata MDS Admission 2024
- The entry is issued according to the national level and state level entrance tests. Some of the exams are as follows – NEET-MDS, Also there are state level entrance exams held by the government of West Bengal.
- The university informs the admission standards, intake capacity, and dates for application and counselling etc. normally by March or April primarily for the session starting in May or June.
- The admission process entails admission application, sitting for the entrance tests, compilation of the merit list, counseling, and the actual admission.
- Seating allotment is also determined through certain factors such as state quota, institutional preference, categories and the like.
WBUHS Kolkata MDS Selection Criteria
- As for the admission to MDS courses, direct admission is offered through a merit list of students prepared by the University. In order to be admitted to this MDS course, candidates must write NEET-MDS entrance examination that is set and administered by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
- It is significant because the list is prepared from the NEET-MDS ranks of the candidates. The higher the rank of the officer in the force, the higher the likelihood of being selected for a leadership role.
- In the MDS course, 50% of the total number of seats available is for the candidates who have taken the All India Quota through NEET scores and another 50% is for the state quota.
- In state quota, candidates have to provide domicile requirements that are required. It is pertinent to focus on the candidates who are domicile of West Bengal.
- The CUT OFF RANKS of NEET and any other norms set by the state government like domicile, reservations, etc. are taken into cognizance while preparing the merit list as a result.
- This counselling process is organized by the university and the candidates are offered admission based on merit rank for the particular course and quota wise seat availability.
