Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT) is an autonomous and self-financed institute situated at Haldia of West Bengal. HIT was established in 1996 and it is AICTE approved college and NAAC accredited college having ‘A’ grade. Hence in the NIRF ranking of 2023 for engineering colleges HIT stands at 151 out of all the institutions in India. It has undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD courses in all the disciplines of engineering, technology, and management.
HIT provides the BTech programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering & Petroleum Engineering. These programs are undertaken on qualifying WBJEE exams or JEE Mains. Important exam dates for 2024 admissions are: WBJEE 2024 examination held on April 22nd and JEE Main 2024 first attempt exam to be conducted from January 20th to 31st 2024. It includes the process of entering the exams, being counseled after the exams and finally choosing the branch and college.

1. For BTech programs, candidates must have completed their class 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics as subjects and must have obtained minimum 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC/ST category). This must have been due to a recent change in the country’s laws since the age limit is now 21 years. Admission through JEE Mains/WBJEE are some of the qualifying exam to get into the institution.
2. For MTech programs the eligibility criteria is BTech/BE degree in the relevant branch with minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST). Specifically, students who have qualified in GATE are offered admission preferences. Other consideration could also be work experience.
3. MBA entrance examination are open for the candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks. The qualification in CAT/MAT test is required by the candidates. It may be required that students have prior work experience in order to be admitted into this course.
4. For MCA, the candidates have to fulfill certain eligibility criteria like the candidate must have passed the bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects and must have secured at least 50% marks in the degree. JECA is taken as entrance exam for admission and the marks achieved in the test are considered for admission.
5. For BCA Program, the candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination in any stream with Mathematics subject. It also requires minimum 50% aggregate marks for applying, for SC/ST candidates it is 45%.

2. For the year 2022, more than ninety eight companies visited HIT for campus placement among them some of the renowned companies are Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, Infosys and Accenture etc.
3. The training and placement cell secured the highest salary package of Rs. 29.77 lakhs per annum from American Express.
4. The maximum salary offered was up to Rs 7 lakhs per annum while the minimum salary started from Rs 5 lakhs per annum with top recruiters being Jaro Education, Zensar Technologies and L&T Infotech and so on.
5. The overall campus placement ratio was 85 percent and 780 students got placement in various B.Tech streams including computer science engineering, electronics & communication engineering, information technology and many more.
6. Education is otherwise also significant and many students also preferred higher studies in renowned universities in India as well as in foreign countries.
