Public Relations is a field of study offered at the undergraduate level and the standard time taken to complete the course is 3 years and it results to the award of Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations (BA). This program enables one to learn public relations, communication, media relations, and events, manage reputation, and brands. Customer relations management is one of the subjects through which students are equipped with conceptual knowledge as well as skills needed to cultivate, sustain and control, an organization’s ‘stakeholder map’ which includes customers, employees, investors, media and the public. Some of the typical courses generally taken usually are Principles of Public Relations, Media Relations, Crisis Communication, Communications Research and Analysis, Campaign Planning and Management among others.
Some of the major entrance exams accepted for admission into the BA (Public Relations) program are: XAT, MAT, CAT, CMAT, ATMA, CET and several other state level tests, DUET, SET, SLAT, etc Several colleges and Universities also consider the performance of the candidate in the last qualifying examination. Good communications skills and personality are also also some of the other qualities that may increase chances of being selected for this program that deals with public interface. While some colleges have their own entrance examinations, others avail direct admissions depending on the performance of the students.
