Master of Arts (MA) in Interior Design is a postgraduate degree program in design and decoration of interiors. The program usually takes two years to complete and may cover subject areas such as architectural drawing, codes and regulations, color, light, space, materials and finishes, built-in furniture, and sustainability.

National or state level Design Aptitude Test (DAT), CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design) or other tests conducted by various colleges and institutes offering MA Interior Design courses tests their creative and analytical skills, spatial awareness, observation skills and design sense. In addition to an entrance test performance, some institutes may also take into account a candidate’s portfolio and work experience for granting program admission.

MA Interior Design Course Eligibility 2024

1. A degree in Interior designing or architecture or any other related field like fine arts or design with not less than 50% overall marks from any university. 

2. The candidates with the bachelor’s degree in other fields can also apply for this course after passing the bridging course as directed by the admission committee of the institute.

3. Candidates from non-design backgrounds must have a minimum of 2 years experience in interior design or architecture practice before applying for the course.

4. Percentage scored in the entrance examination if the institute has a particular test like CEED or NID DAT before admitting students. 

5. While attending an interview in institutes that offer merit and creativity admission the candidate is required to present his/her portfolio of design and statement of purpose.

6. TOEFL or IELTS scores of foreign students for admission to medium of instruction in English.
