MA Kannada Admission 2024: Eligibility, Course Details

The Master of Arts or MA (Kannada) this course is a postgraduate course that offers the students deep insights into the language, literature, poetry, drama, culture and linguistics of Kannada. This course normally takes 2 years with four semesters. The requirements for admission are a Bachelor’s degree in Kannada or any other related field with at least 50% marks. While some universities have their own entrance tests, most of the colleges accept KSET and UGC NET scores of other tests as well.

The entrance examinations that are permitted for admission to the MA Kannada course are KSET, UGC NET, PGET, KMAT, CUCET, TANCET and ANDHRAU CET. However some universities like Kuvempu, Mangalore and Gulbarga have their own written entrance test for admission to the MA Kannada course. The minimum eligibility in these entrance tests differs from one university or college to the other for this postgraduate course.

Master of Arts [MA] (Kannada) Course Eligibility 2024

1. Possessing any Bachelor’s degree with Kannada as one of the subjects in the under graduate level or B.A in Kannada language. 

2. At least 45-50% marks in aggregate in the undergraduate degree examinations from a recognized university for general category candidates, and as per respective norms in case of reserved categories.

3. However, to accommodate students from other backgrounds, there could be an entrance test in Kannada language.

4. It is important to note that some universities have age restrictions, generally, a minimum age of 21 for the general category.

5. Conditional admission for candidates who are completing their undergraduate course depending on the final year result.

6. Other conditions like interview, written test etc. may be laid down by some of the institutes.
