M.Sc Anthropology is a post graduate course of two year duration, which has the study of human society and biology as its major branch of study. Introducing the students to enhanced anthropological concepts, theories, and skills for the study of mankind’s biological, social and cultural developments is provided. A M.Sc in Anthropology entails topics such as physical anthropology including evolution, pre-historic archaeology, human biology and adaptation, social cultural anthropology including linguistics, visual anthropology.
For admission to M.Sc Anthropology, candidates have to qualify one of the entrance examination namely IIT JAM, CUCET, TISSNET or any other written test, Anthropology specific conducted by various university. They may also be admitted on the basis of marks in qualifying examination such as B.Sc or BA in Anthropology. There are some universities which enroll students through interview only as a means of admission.

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or any related field such as Sociology, Psychology, with a minimum of 50% marks in the entire academic period from a recognized university.
2. Other course related fields like Life Science, Geography, Social work and other course related fields graduates with minimum marks can apply.
3. This is an open course for any individual who wishes to learn and there is no limit on age requirement.
4. Has to have Anthropology as one of the subjects in graduation if he/she has graduated in some other stream.
5. While some of the colleges administer entrance examinations for students to be admitted, others offer the student a chance depending on merit.
6. Even some of the institutes also do have the practice of personal interview before they admit the candidates to this 2 years full time post graduate program.
