Master of Technology [M.Tech] in Agricultural Engineering is a two-year postgraduate program that deals with the application of engineering concepts to agriculture. It is a branch of engineering that incorporates the understanding of mechanics, materials, structures, powers usage and electronics with the aim of enhancing agricultural production and processing. The program includes gender and senior level classes in areas such as farm power and machinery, irrigation and drainage engineering, agricultural structures design, soil and water conservation engineering, agricultural processing and food engineering.
The M.Tech Agricultural Engineering program usually requires that applicants sit for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) and or university/institute entrance examinations. Those who clear GATE examination are given more importance. Certain institutes also offer admission on the basis of marks obtained in post graduation or holding a UGC-NET in Agricultural Engineering or related field.
