Ph.D. (Fine Arts) is a Doctoral level course offered in various branches of Fine and Visual Arts such as Painting, Sculpting, Visual Communication, Applied Arts, Graphics, Print Making. As it is a Ph.D. program, it can be completed within 3-5 years if a student is studying full time. In some universities, the student first registers for an M.Phil program for two years before being considered for a Ph.D program which takes another three years.
The entrance tests for admission to Ph.D. (Fine Arts) are National Eligibility Test (NET) by NTA, Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST), Graduate Ph.D. program Test (GPAT) and other tests by various central and state universities. Most of the colleges and universities also prefer to look into the candidate’s performance in Masters in Fine Arts in order to grant a Ph.D. In the selection process, there is usually an interview round or an assessment of candidates’ portfolio and concepts.
