The Birsa Agricultural University or BAU, Ranchi, Jharkhand is a state university that has several departments in the field of agriculture and allied sciences. The major departments of the university are Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural engineering, Forestry, agricultural Biotechnology, Agricultural economics, agribusiness management, Animal husbandry, dairy technology, Veterinary, fisheries, Home science, and Basic science. The minimum eligibility criteria that have been set by the university are in relation to the different departments and courses offered and for the Agricultural department, students are required to have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology and with at least 50% pass rate. Veterinary, Home Science and Fisheries:Candidates should have 50% marks in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology. For MBA Agribusiness, students need only a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks. JEE Mains, JCECEB and the national level tests are the only accepted tests.
There are several major courses offered at the BAU Ranchi across departments that include B.Sc. Agriculture, Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering, Bachelors of Fishery science and Technology. Fisheries, B.V.Sc. Veterinary, B.Sc. Forestry, B.Sc. Horticulture, B.Tech Food Technology an B.Sc. Home Science, MBA Agri business Management and many more. As for the exam dates in 2024, they may only be released by JCECEB and other examining organizations by October 2023. It consists of online registration, sitting for common admission tests in case of certain programs, declaration of cut off lists based on the scores in tests and/or on class twelve, counseling sessions and finally admission confirmation. The admission forms are preferably open from October every year for admission to the next academic session which starts in July/August. To apply online, one has to fill in an admission form found on the BAU admission portal and input the following details. Then login to complete the application form and submit it. For the offline admission process download the admission form from the university’s website of BAU. Compliantly complete it and enclose photocopies of all documents as specified. The duly filled and signed form along with DD towards the application fee must be deposited at the receipt section of the University.
