IIITD New Delhi Admission 2024

IIIT Delhi was set up in 2008 as a state university . It provides diverse undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in areas including computer science, electronics and communications, bioinformatics, Social sciences and humanities, and mathematics. Computer Science department provides B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering and candidates are admitted based on national level entrance exams like JEE Main, UCEED & CEED etc. The eligibility includes candidate must have passed class 12th with minimum 60% marks in aggregate of PCM subjects. Electronics department offers the B.Tech course in Electronics & Communication Engineering where admission is based on JEE Main scores. Minimum requirement involves the applicant having at least an average of 60% in class 12th with subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The Computational Biology department admits students either through JEE Main or through KVPY for its B.Tech program. The prospective applicants should have passed their class 12th examination in Science group with a minimum of 60% marks.

The institute has multiple postgraduate and PhD options in the mentioned disciplines which include national level tests like GATE, CEED and UCEED for admissions. The choices are made based on merit of these exams, personal interviews, academic achievements and work experience. The admission process for the year 2024 is usually exercised in December 2023 and usually accompanied by information brochure on the institute’s website. It is open for students’ application and they are encouraged to apply from January to March in the year 2024 after presenting their exam results. There are different dates to appear in the qualifying examination for different streams, for example JEE Main 2024 held in April 2023, while GATE 2024 is in February 2023 and UCEED and CEED 2024 held in January 2023. The students are given the final admission in the month of July after the counselling rounds. The academic session starts from the last week of July of every year.

The admissions to the BTech programmes located at IIIT Delhi are based on JEE Main ranks. For those who want to apply online, the candidate has to visit the official website through the IIITD to go to the registration page. The application form is only available in the online mode for the candidates and the form has to be filled and the application fee has to be paid before the last date. They are also required to scan documents such as photograph and signature, caste certificate if applicable and the admit card of JEE Main. Only those candidates who have secured the minimum JEE Main cut of shall be eligible to attend counselling sessions. 

During counselling, the candidates are obliged to come in person and present all the original documents. They get selected through several rounds of counselling which take into consideration factors such as JEE Main rank, the number of seats that are available, the preferences the applicant has mentioned, and reservation norms. The total process from applying for the admission to finally getting a seat in IIIT Delhi for the BTech programmes is done in online manner.   • The same User ID & Password will be sent to the candidate's registered Email ID for future reference.

IIITD New Delhi B.Tech Admission 2024

- IIIT Delhi provides software engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computational biology, and human computer interaction under B.Tech for a total duration of four years.

- The candidates are selected in to the institute depending on the rank they secured in JEE Mains and the Class 12th percentiles. Competition is rather high in terms of the institute’s requirements for cutoffs.

- The Round for applying is usually in April/May after the declaration of the JEE Mains result. The admission offer letters must be out by end of June or early July.

- Apart from the general eligibility criteria, IIIT Delhi has a little concession in terms of some reservation categories like Delhi region students, female students etc. 

IIITD New Delhi B.Tech Selection Criteria

- The following list shows the existing admission process for the institute: JEE Main Examination. Starting with JEE Main is paramount and students have to obtain a qualifying score in the examination.

- For admitting the students, 85% weightage is given to their JEE Main ranks and percentile scores. The remaining 15% weightage is the average marks secured by the candidate in Class 12th board examination.

- For the 85% weightage of JEE Main, only ranks/percentiles of Paper 1 or the BTech paper are taken.

- These ranks and percentiles vary each year due to the number of seats available and the number of candidates who apply to the exam. Specifically, it was found that usually cut-offs are below 2500 rank and above 90 percentiles.

- Meanwhile, just the physics, chemistry and mathematics scores from the Class 12 boards make up the 15% weightage. There might be minimum 60% score requirements that a student is expected to meet before they get to take the next course.

- There are some caste-specific seats available in the particular institution like OBC, SC, ST as per the government norms.

- Companies have a set of criteria that have to be met by those who are chosen for the program, including marks of more than 60% in physics, chemistry, and mathematics in Class 12 boards.

IIITD New Delhi B.Tech How To Apply?

- IIIT Delhi provides the B.Tech programme in Computer Science and Engineering which has a duration of four years. There are other programmes like 5-year integrated B.Tech + M.Tech or B.Tech + MBA.

- To apply, one will have to clear the JEE Main exam and then using the score, apply online on the official website of IIIT Delhi when the application fills. There is no fixed IIT JEE Main cut off as the cut off level changes every year.

- Along with the scores obtained in JEE Main, the marks scored in the twelfth grade are also accepted for admission purposes. Minimum percentage that are required for admission are 60% in 12th Boards.

- The application form is available online at the official page of IIIT Delhi admissions normally in May/June right after JEE Main results are out. It is usually due in July for the previous fiscal year.

- There is no specific entrance exam for the IIIT Delhi as it comes under the category of deemed university and the admission is done through the rank obtained in the JEE Mains exam. It is used for admissions and also with the performance in the 12th standard board exam. 

- Tuition and caution money is Rs. 2000/- for gender neutral candidates and Rs. 1000/- for female candidates and additional Rs. 2000/- for boys and Rs. 1000/- for girls as an application fee.

- JEE Main Rank, percentage obtained in 12th examination, category, choices made by the candidate and availability of seats in the preferred branch are considered for issuing admissions. The selection of seats is done through counseling sessions which are usually conducted in rounds.
